They should close shop

The tree is a bit far from the main town of Tzaneen, where all the Magoebaskloof adventure is. It has fallen apart, don't know why. But it is not worth seeing, you'll waste your R25.

It has been destroyed in half I think by nature and you can see it from your car if you drive close enough to the reception area of that place. The place also has poor admin.

Just go see the one in Mapungubwe

Waste of time
Mar 2018 • Family
Disappointing to drive all the way out only to find the ‘tree’ no longer exists and is a pile of rubble (which they still insist you pay to look at). Don’t waste your time - long drive, bad signage. Nothing there to see but what was probably once an amazing sight to see

3 years earlyer
Nov 2017
We should have come on our first roundtrip three years earlyer. At that time the tree was still in its full glory with bar inside. Today its been disrupted in several parts but still impressive to see and you don't need much imagination to see how huge this tree must have been. Also surprising is that the tree is still alive, there are still growing leaves on the trunks lying all around on the ground.

Tree has collapsed

I really wanted to see this. Imagine my disappointment after driving out of our way on a really bad road. There is little or nothing to see. It is very sad, but life goes on. I wouldn't waste my time.

These trees are so amazing and beautiful the tree that split into two pieces keeps on growing it is just amazing to see the size's of these trees and how beautiful they are there is also a small area where you can sit and enjoy pancakes with delicious fillings and a cold or hot drinks.

Magnificent

The boabab is still huge even though part of it has broken, would recommend pictures being taken from the right side or back of the tree. The bar is also still visible, the aside room is dark and smells. It could be better.

Old, glorious But Fallen now!
Apr 2017 • Friends
We visited this place with great expectation to see the big old tree but it's completely fallen now, no bar inside. it must have been very spectacular, sadly we missed it by some days.
But the area is green, fresh, and the lodge behind the tree is pretty.Upstairs treehouse is cute too.

Must see tree
Feb 2017 • Couples
After a 1,5km dirt road, arriving at this great tree. Imagine the fabulous age of this tree, something like 1500-2000 yrs and see it's impressive size and still alive. It's allmost an eco system on it's own. A 1/4 part has broken off, but it is still impressive. You will maybe only spent 15-30 min here, but still a must see. If you get impressed by the big five, why mis this tree, also a wonder of nature?

What a treat!
Jan 2017 • Friends
Myself and 9 friends have been staying at the baobab tree for the past 5 nights. What an incredible stay we have had! The Jungalows are cosy and the outdoor bathrooms are an absolute treat ! The main treehouse is great fun when there is a group of you and the communal braai/fire pit is fantastic for the evenings. The baobab tree is a spectacle, despite the fallen branch the tree is clearly still living. The owners are brilliant and the staff looking after the camp are very kind and efficient, they have made the stay wonderful! Can't wait for our next trip.
