Richard was a great guide on the E bike tour. Kept us engaged with the history of the Wilderness, and I wouldn't have asked for a better guide. His dad jokes also grew on me, lol. The scenic ride was enjoyed thoroughly. Richard truly enjoys what he does, and his passion emanates. Very polite young man.

So this will be a bias review as I came here primarily to hang glide off the map of Africa , well it was great , beyond great , it was so much more than I expected . The views are outstanding , a very easy course to fly and navigate around , expert pilots on the hill eager to offer a site briefing and guide you on your flight . Tandem paragliding is a must for those wanting the ultimate experience , can’t recommend this place enough .

The short drive from Wilderness or from the Seven Passes road to the viewpoint is definitely worth it. You won’t spend a lot of time here, but the view to both sides is great and something to see at least once. Parking is available right next to the viewpoint. Admire the view (both to the map and to the sea), take a photo or two, check out the paragliders and then continue your road-trip.

A few minutes drive up the hill from Wilderness town , last stretch a gravel road which is very driveable by all types of vehicles . The route is quite well marked out. Its just incredible that the river & vegetation forms a map of Africa , also looks like the head of a crocodile with a bit of imagination . The views from the slope across the road is also incredible & it is advisable to walk down the slope for a bit where the coastline of the Wilderness is very clear as well as the lagoon & part of the Wilderness town . A short distance away one can enjoy a cup of coffee & take a leap of faith doing some paragliding. These view points are free & really worth a short visit if in Wilderness

The viewpoint is called Map of Africa, because you are looking at a meandering river that encloses a landscape coincidentally formed in the shape of the continent Africa. Indeed remarkable scenery.
On the other side of the road there is a slope used by paragliders for lift offs. From there you can see Wilderness along the coast with beaches. Another fantastic view.
Hiked up to the viewpoint on Remskoen street from Wilderness (distance 5 km, elevation difference 200m). It took me about 1 and a half hour

A quick view point that's a bit out of the way. We had some time before checking in to our B&B, so we decided to stop, but after going, wouldn't recommend going out of your way to see it. There's a sign, a bench, and a view. It would be cooler if they had a overlay of a map or something nearby to add to it.

I didn’t get to see the full beauty of the map of Africa for long but when the mist cleared it was spectacular. Rozanne and Helen, information guides and volunteers, were just a wealth of knowledge. They made the viewpoint that much better.

The view itself is nice, but local volunteer guides gave really lot further information and gave nice advice also to go to other side to see Wilderness beach. Just do not interfere their 'aviation activities'.
Takes only few minutes drive off Wilderness. If in hurry, you see views on few minutes. On nice weather we stayed there much longer.
Remember to tip volunteers, they reserve it!

Slow drive up and down to the viewpoint, there are horse riding and paragliding spots en route. There is a tea garden that is very quiet and peaceful down the road as well.

The drive to the look out is OK, and the lookout is nice, but don't expect to see a "Map of Africa".
