A great morning cruise. Mike was an excellent guide and we learned a lot about bird behaviour and the lakes area. Especially enjoyed the section on the Duiwerivier. So serene with a beautiful sighting of the Knysna Loerie. The boat was comfortable and allowed great views from all sides.

I spent the morning on this river boat trip and saw the wild bird life within touching distance on the river bank! Nice slow pace on the 1.5 hour trip so I could take everything in. Mike is very knowledgeable about both the wildlife and their habitat. Don’t miss this trip as you travel down the Garden Route 🦅🙏🤗👍 x

Thank you very much for the review! So glad you enjoyed it. Our standard cruise goes up and down the Touw River (4km either way) We also offer shorter ferry trips, to and from Wilderness National Park, stop off points being Waterside Jetty on the boardwalk close to the village, Moontide, Wilderness Manor, Anchorage, Serendipity, Pirates Creek, Fairy Knowe Hotel, Ebb & Flow, and the Half-collared Kingfisher trail. Regards Mike

I went with a group of friends on the Touws River, and what an amazing experience!
The first part of the trip takes you to the river mouth, and then up to the pont over the river. It was still, and quiet, with amazing reflections in the still water.
Lots of birdlife.

Very little bird life. Surprised we had to pay an extra fee to come into the park. Was not value for money. Was disappointed.

Thank you for your review. Sorry it did not meet your expectations. We operate a private business within Wilderness National Park, all visitors have to pay entry unless they have a Wildcard from SANParks. This is mentioned in our listing and on your reservation. So you should not have been surprised. Unfortunately SANParks charges more for international visitors than locals. The birdlife varies with the time of year, the weather and the time of day. Early mornings are generally best. This summer the birds have been scarce. The tour is not just about birds, but the scenic beauty of the Touw River, the reed-lined waterways and surrounding forests are always a sight to see. Our tours offer the opportunity to enjoy nature in a relaxing manner and is suitable for people of all ages.

A couple of hours well spent- Mike, our guide was very informative and although the rain set in halfway through our trip he still managed to find plenty of bird life to show us- also got us to dip a hand in the river and feel the temperature - it was warm, no wonder there were people swimming in it! The setting inside the Wilderness National Park was lovely- so much so we came back the following day to do a hike that sets off from there (we did the Half Collared Kingfisher Hike but there are others I believe). Well worth doing both.

Great trip up and down the river, checking out the varying landscapes and forest. Guide was great and informative and handy having blankets available as it can get chilly withe the wind.

Our family of five booked the late afternoon cruise. After checking in at the Wilderness National Park, we found our way to where the cruise is operated from with ease.

We were welcomed by Chris who was our guide and had a relqxing cruise towards the estuary and then back, travelling further up the river. Chris was very knowledgeable and answered our many questions.

It was a great trip enjoyed by all, thanks Chris and Mike.
