Just love this artists use of colours in his sea scapes with busy little ones playing in the surf.Its a welcome change to the usual. Must be seen.

Top class stores and all under one roof. Close to hotel. Took hotel shuttle both ways and found the shopping safe and convenient.

Stunning pictures by Makiwa in brilliant bright colours used with great imagination. Also some lovely landscapes of the Drakensberg by Tony de Freitas

Really worth a visit, this art gallery is superb. Beautiful art, bold brigh colors, just fabulous! African art at its best, painted with style and texture.

Mostly his own work, which is very bright and happy. There are some beautiful bronzes of wildlife. Some other artists as well. Coming from overseas, with the exchange rate the art works are "cheap at the price". The bronzes are well worth a look and are beautifully executed and perfectly cast. Ther resident artist is a self taught African Zulu with a very sophistacted style and brilliant use of color...undoubtedly an invetemnt fro the fuitre besides the beauty.

Wonderful local art with an African theme and exquisite sculpture.Highly recommended for visitors from Europe and the Americas.Very friendly and knowledgable studio / gallery manager.

I just happened to stumble upon Makiwa Gallery while taking a stroll through Lighthouse Mall in Umhlanga one afternoon. It is sometimes difficult to buy good African art -- for me at least the problem usually lies in the size or weight of the piece and trying to accommodate it in my luggage for the return trip to the UK....
