Not a great beach for swimming as it shelves quite steeply, but the promenade is great, full of people walking and running.

I just love the 2,5 km long promenade that has joggers and walkers abound. The beach has life guards on duty, shark nets to make bathers feel safe, plenty of cafes, restaurants, takeaways for ever popular mini doughnuts, organised entertainment and competitions during the holiday...More

It’s beautiful and clean. Safe areas to swim. Lovely peer and path to walk through with benches along the way. Always a must when in the area.

Visited Umhlanga beach during a recent stay. Terribly disappointed with the amount of litter on the beach and the large number of drunk people on the beach.

Family friendly, good for chilling; swimming and surfing. Really good restaurants, hotels and cafes. My girls loved running around and enjoying the beautiful surroundings.

Beautiful safe beach. Lagoon is adjacent at the breakers resort. Great for fishing. Quite rocky but there are designated swimming areas. Sand is very rough. I would advise people to use aqua soles whilst swimming to avoid getting cuts.

I would really recommend The Breakers Resort or Umhlangha Sands Hotel...both on Lagoon Drive in Umhlanga
