Scottburgh beach remains one of the best beaches. It never gets as crowded as other beaches because of its sheer size. A pool, rockpools, supatubes and restaurants on the beach, all ensure that you can spend an entire day on this beach with no worries. An added bonus is the grass embankment on those windy days.

The views are phenomenal-much better than those of the more popular (and expensive) destinations in KZN that people flock too.

A must try is the boat rides with Oceans Alive. Every trip I have seen something- dolphins, turtles and whales. A truly magical experience.

Do yourself a favour and visit this little gem. You will fall in love...

The beach is used for surfing, fishing and swimming, beach is sand with rock areas. Idea for all the family, there is also a sea water swimming pool which is free to use. There is beach resue so swim were they say. There are rip tides.

Lovely beach (when it is quiet out of season). Sand is nice and soft on the one side (left hand side facing the ocean) whilst the right hand side in front of the caravan park is more like river sand and is sharp to walk on.

Swimming is between the life-guard's flags and beach is monitored unless otherwise informed between 0800 and 1700hrs (stand corrected on time). Rocky outcrop delivers some interesting searching for critters and for surfers alike to get behind the break water for some big waves.

What a disappointment especially after some glowing reviews. We visited on the first Saturday of the Oct 22 holidays and the beach is in a word .. sad. The pools are closed and derelict. The beach had lots of plastic litter dotted along the tide line and floating in the swim zone. The sheltered alcove near the pools was littered with tangled fishing gear lines and rusted hooks so not safe for little ones to roam or explore the rocks. This combined with the badgering of desperate hawkers trying to sell buckets and fishing nets when making our way from the parking area to the beach itself made for an unpleasant experience. It is unlikely we will return as in my opinion, there are many other better choices along the South Coast which offer a better experience.

Busy beach but there are lifeguards and restaurants nearby. There was no water in the swimming pool and the slide was under repair at the time.

Cheap. Clean. On the beach!

A sea holiday on the beach with guaranteed sea view every day!

Love the beach. Love the peace. Love the view.

The holiday flats are walking distance from the town Centre or the beach.

Favorite holiday destination in our books and doesn’t break the bank

The best right hand break on the KZ Natal South Coast, well known and very popular with local surfers. There is a large grassy bank to sit on with a few restaurants at the top, and families are welcome to bring their umbrellas and beach goodies. Kids have a safe pool to paddle in and the beach has trained life guards on duty at specific times. The river also provides a spot for SUP paddlers to practise in safety. Generally a nice beach for everyone, although at peak holiday times it can get rather crowded.

Beautiful view of the bay from the parking or restaurants. Rent an umbrella and sit on the lawn or sand. Shark nets and life guards so swimming and surfing is ideal.

There are really two separate beaches separated by a river, which is wadeable except perhaps at very high tides. The sand is mostly clean and cleanups are undertaken.Unfortunately, there is some litter left by unthinking visitors or washed up by the tides. You need to be aware that the northern beach shelves very steeply away from the river and there is a wicked undertow, which makes it unsafe for small children and poor swimmers.
