When windy on beach, or if you are a birder, or wish to walk.... visit this reserve. R30 entrance fee per car. There are clean toilets, picnic and braai spots under shady trees. Natural bush with paths to river, wetland area and grassland area. 2 bird hides. Many birds but one needs time + patience. Wear walking shoes and take sunscreen and mosquito repellent.

We visited twice during our stay, once on a regular Wednesday fundraising morning attended by lots of locals. Tea, coffee and cakes for a reasonable price and the other exploring the far reaches of the reserve. Work needs to be undertaken to restore some of the areas but a couple of hours spent there was enjoyable.

We visited the nature reserve quite late one afternoon and had a bit of a walk around. Saw a few birds and it was nice to get out and be in a forested area. The volunteers are doing an amazing job there of keeping things in good shape. I think it was worth a visit but is a very small reserve do don't expect 'fireworks'.

If you are a birder this place will disapoint. I wouldn't go again. If you want a short walk there are some small trails but don't expect to view much . . . in my case next to nothing! Views over the river are nice.

This place is very neglected and run down. Very few animals and not worth the long drive. We only saw one buck and a few zebras after driving around for at least 2 hours. The roads are neglected and bushes over growing the roads.

We visited twice. Once for an open day hosted by village businesses and secondly for the Wednesday morning tea garden.

Although I'm sure early mornings are best we saw plenty of birds at 10am.

The very helpful warden told us where to go and reprimanded us for our inappropriate footwear! Make sure to wear sturdy shoes and take a hat!

The warden also said he would take us on a walk if we returned better equipped and we were sorry that we had to leave Scottburgh before we could take up his offer.

A lovely spot.

A well maintained nature reserve, with several bird watching hides. Several trails, for different levels of fitness. Just walking though it is relaxing. remember to take binoculars
Best time to see birds you need to visit early in the morning!

This is quite small and visited by locals as it also has a tea garden.
