Went to a mid week winter race and it was quiet but we had a great trip regardless.
Nice relaxed atmosphere, you dont need to dress up.
Able to get a drink and some food, its also attached to a casino.

The Golden Horse is a pleasant atmosphere to gamble at - there are a couple of restaurants, including an all-you-can-eat buffet. Food is normally pretty good. There are horse races still held at the race course and it was the set of the movie Racing Stripes

Scottsville race course is not only noted for this race horsing, but also boast a beautilful casino called the GOLDEN HORSE.has a hotel with spacious rooms, lots of restuarants,entertainment center for children,
has venues to host functions of any sort. live entertainments/shows also take place.good for family outings.

Had a day off in Pietermaritzburg and was told that the big race of the season was on,so off we went to Scottsville.Arrived with cash in hand for the entry fee,(£10 in UK),to be told entry was free.Looked for a car parking space(also free),and made our way to the stands.
Entry was via a tunnel and then up to the concourse,access to the casino is also in the concourse area.
Nice food available upstairs,snacks and a bar under the stands.
Had a great day out,

This was a place where you can have endless hours of fun all in one place the racecourse has lots of subsidiries attached .Golden horse casino..lots of food dens with decent menus.John Dorry.Asian fusion and rockerfellas where you can have a buffet menus at reasonable prices and service is excellent.a place where the entire family can have a full Day of fun.

The racecourse is always well maintained with ample parking, direct access to Golden Horse and places to eat. Perfect day out for outings and pickinicking

Scottsville racecourse is always a wonderful place to go to watch the races. We sat at the member section because we racehorse owners and the meal is ok nothing to rave about. The wait is the worst part. Make sure you make an order at least 45mins before you actually want your meal.

The Scottsville Racecourse is part of the Golden Horse Casino complex and is quite the attraction in Pietermaritzburg. With a host of restaurants to choose from and facilities for kids and adults alike, it makes for a good time out. It is one of the landmarks in the Midlands and has been around for probably a century or so.
