Lovely game reserve with the big 5. Don't go during rainy season, too lush to see much, but worthwhile going during wintertime. Summers are EXTREMELY hot, burnt half my arm off. Lovely pools and picnic areas. See and amazing variety of birds, reptiles, animals and water dwelling creatures. Took my wife there for the first time and she thoroughly enjoyed it. Will go back during winter.

This was the worst visit to an upmarket Game Reserve.
went on a special occasion and had special dietary requirements which were both ignored. game drives very disappointing. started with a flat tyre on the first drive.
Food was terrible.,
Manager was no where to be seen. Only on checkout and was adamant that everything was good.
ended of with me getting bitten by Bedbugs. my whole arm was covered.
Staff is untrained.

Always enjoy our stay there, everything is pleasant and worth the experience. Nice rooms, staff and food - always fun around the bar too.

This is our second trip to Mkuze Falls, our first many years ago was disappointing as we discovered on arrival that we were sharing the reserve with hunters, every animal that saw our vehicle approaching disappeared. This time not a hunter in sight (the reserve no longer entertains trophy hunters) the sightings are brilliant. The family all saw elephant, lion, buffalo, hippo and rhino on many occasions over the three days, and at very close quarters particularly the elephant, lion and buffalo. If I have one reservation it was the lack of skills in our ranger, as the bird life in this reserve is astonishing and in between speeding around the reserve some of the more notable albeit very quick sightings included an eastern nicator, southern boubou, green winged pytilia, white throated robin-chat, a black stork, many sunbirds , red throated wryneck heard but not seen, a bearded woodpecker that visited the breakfast area every morning as well. The management team have used the lockdown period wisely as the lodge is being refurbished. The rooms all have spectacular views, very comfortable, spacious and all very private. The catering was perfect and the lodge staff and general manager Matt perform an excellent job. Highly recommended, as visitor density is low, the scenery is breath taking and no shortage of animals, trees and birds. We will definitely be back to this reserve, and try Collins our ranger again as everyone deserves a second chance.

A really good game reserve. Have been to a couple during the past year. Nice location, good service and excellent food. The reserve is “tight”. You get very close to the animals. Heart rate goes up when you have an elephant or Lyon on touching distance. Service minded start. Try it!

Mkuze will always have a special place in my heart, so many fabulous memories. The staff were excellent making sure that my grandson (7years old) also enjoyed the experience. The food as always was excellent and the rooms a delight. Jabulani was excellent he really tried to find the lions, one quick sighting but we say everything else.

I am a regular visitor to the game reserves in the Kwazulu Natal area. This experience was one of the better places that I have stayed at. The rooms were well furnished, with fantastic views. The air conditioning was a blessing as it was extremely hot and humid when we were there. The food was excellent, and the game drives were great, the ranger did everything possible to show us what we requested for the drive. There was nothing that was too much for the staff to attend to, they were always friendly. I hope to stay there again

I personally love the bush and any excuse to be there. Of course, when done in luxury, all the more so jolly! To start, the food was great, staff friendly and really helpful. There is a lovely view on the deck of the communal lounge of the falls. Not many people are in there so often one has this lovely peaceful place to oneself.
Each unit as an outdoor shower and a private plunge pool. Bathrooms are clean and well stocked (thoughtful extras like wet wipes, handy for the game drive. Beds are super comfy.
Just be aware that the cost of drinks is steep - for obvious reason and not meant as a negative crit.
Our game drive was superb, we saw so much. Our rangers were brilliant and well experienced. We had the rather unnerving delight of watching a male elephant in musk. A little scary but it was an experience and I doubt they would have risked it if the situation was dangerous. Had the pleasure of seeing a lioness and her 6 month old cubs and later saw her sister with her 1 year old cubs. Lovely bird life and saw some new species. Unfortunately our stay was only one night.

From the time we arrived, until we left was outstanding!

The Staff were always "around" to assist and provide for our specific needs and requirements.

The beauty of visiting a "Private Game Reserve" like this, is that your Game Drive Guide can take you to where ever the Game is, on or off road, unlike other "Reserves" where you cannot leave the road.

We managed to view the Big Five in the two days we were visiting, along with many other Game species.

Most of the rooms overlook the Waterfall and they have their own splash pool, what a bonus, especially returning from a hot day out.

Considering the rate we paid for our stay, I can definitely recommend Mkuze Falls Private Game Reserve, for a treat of a life time.

Will I return, absolutely yes, with many more friends.

Thanks once again to all making our stay, which was to celebrate "Friendship" unforgettable!

A couple of friends from the states came to visit me in Durban so we went to Mkuze for a 2-night safari. The hospitality of the staff was very good. The food was above average as was the accommodations. Just about all the drives were wet and cold. But we did experience 4 or the 5 Big 5. The Rangers did great and it was a great experience. If I was to complain and it was minor the manager spent most the time talking it up with a larger group that was there not showing much attention to the smaller ones that were staying at the lodge. I would highly recommend a visit and would consider returning.
