The old structural building was preserved but the inside was changed to two parts, one has since become Virgin Active Gym and the other section is a shopping center, The shopping center has all the retail shops that you may think of, restaurants and supermarket, there is a beautiful park outside the mall called Gugu Dlamini park where people sit and relax during lunch time.

This more than 125 years old Victorian style railway station is the home of KNZ tourist information bureau and point of departure of various walking tours. A bust of Mahatma Gandhi can be found just inside the front door, commemorating the purchase of a first class train ticket to Johannesburg. I went there following the footstep of the great Mahatme in South Africa. A historical and archeological place to visit.

This is a quant blast in the past with some retail outlets and eating places. Great to spend two hours or so. A jack of all malls. Will be more interesting for those who like history and architecture.

If Urine besmeared buildings, pigeon poop and hundreds of call centre workers puffing on their cigarettes do it for you then this is the place to go!
Yes!....the history of the building is great.....Yes! It's a beautiful building.....
No! No one is taking care of it.
No! No one is cleaning it (it was last cleaned in 2010 to save face)
No! No one can breathe in front of the building without contracting lung cancer ( call centre workers are allowed to smoke right under the non smoking signs, under a roof - which is against legislation)
It's a tourist place but most certainly not an ATTRACTION!

This is the oldest shopping mall in Durban. The original building structure which used to be the famous Durban railway station was preserved when they converted it to become a shopping mall, next to it is also the first Virgin Active gym in Durban which was also part of the old Durban Station.

Lots of restaurants with typically Indian foods available. Prices at the restaurants are inexpensive and food is good. Many shops and department stores in the building. It can get very busy around lunch time. Take a local person or tourist guide with as the surrounding neighborhood can be unsafe.

Unless you want to be mugged, pick pocketed or sold FONG KONG goods...Stay away!!! from this area....If you have to go, beware of your surrounds at all times...Used to be a nice place to visit ...1 years ago...but not any more. Besides Durban has so many other beautiful places to visit...
