Love going there for race meetings. Excellent quality food and facilities. Brilliant to have a TV monitor on each table which is connected to a variety of channels.

The Best thing to do on a Friday evening in Durban is go night racing at Greyville. Facilities are outstanding & with the new Poly Track racing is never cancelled even if it rains.Entry is free, entertainment in the bar is top class. Food & Drink is really cheap, a great evening out & the chance to win some money if you see the on form horse in the parade ring before the race.

On non race days you can walk your dogs or take a jog around the track. Leads not required for dogs - great socialisation opportunities and a very popular doggie spot.
Pleasant walk of approx 5 km (I think) to walk all the way round. The golf course situated in the middle of the course and the architecture of surrounding buildings which makes for a very scenic walk. The complete walk takes about 35 minutes.
It is safe during daylight hours for solo walkers / runners.

We travelled all the way to Durban to see the Durban July, not because we enjoy horse racing, but rather to see all of the "weird people" that dress up for the July. Well, I have never seen so many weird and wonderful people in one place before. There were apparently some 70000 people there and everything was run efficiently and there were plenty of places to eat at reasonable prices. A great day out.

I'm rating Greyville racecourse from a different angle . Food ... that's right food .
The last Sunday of every month EAT GREEK have a buffet in the Sea Cottage room that will blow you away
It's the best food extravaganza you will find in Durban and at r175pp it's a steal . You paying r175 plus just for a steak in restaurants .
At Eat Greek it's starters, of all sorts that will keep you very busy and you might not move on from there.
The mains of roast lamb, chicken, fish & various pasta dishes will have you bulging . Desserts !!sigh !! The usual awesome Greek desserts that will have you loosening your belt gentlemen . Ladies?..no comment .
Greyville as a race course is stunning and July day is the highlight of the year . The Vodocom Durban July is where "whose who" will be on Sat 1st July . Get there and have the day obf your life .

The Durban View room, adjacent to the finishing post, is an excellent way to attend and watch the Sport of Kings. The venue offers world class betting and TV facilities, including a delicious buffet. Great for a fun day or night out with friends.

All weather course with lighting that makes you think it's daylight for evening races. On Friday nights there is a huge buffet. Sadly I always eat too much. Too tempting to go back in between each race for more!! Wednesday lunchtime the buffet is smaller as not so many people there. Wine is extra.
