Best avoided, too many crowds braaiing and fires, smokey, dodgy. Not a peaceful place to see Japanese plants. Almost like Fountains Valley in Pretoria. 👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽

Open now after the lockdown and much better for the recent rains as the trees, grass, bushes and shrubs are alive and green – clean and tidy - easy parking inside the gates - pleasant on weekdays for a fresh air stroll – not that much Japanese about it but it is the experience not what it is called that matters.

Took a drive to japaneese garden for the Lil one to get some out door experience.the park was so clean and new benches had been installed. They were doing up the wedding hall area. Quite place to chill relax and enjoy with family. My Lil 1 loved it. We sat near the pond had our lunch. Took some photos with our baba. Day we'll spent. Sometimes you just need that peace and quiet during all that holiday rush.

We had a great time with the whole family. Perfect picnic spot and safe and clean. Kids loved running around and feeding the fish.

decent open space and gardens. If you go when it is not to busy it is a nice place for peaceful walk with kids and dogs (on leash). wheelchair and pram friendly with a decent playground- but it could bee so much better. the gardens are a little tired and with the space they have it could be really special if the City invested more

I stopped here to enjoy a break and a burger from a nearby outlet – I was interested to see what had changed behind a safety screen erected on the road passing the bottom of the gardens – sadly it seemed to be just a wall to replace the tired fence – nothing else had changed from my last visit - being midweek it was quiet with only a people walking their dogs and very peaceful and I enjoyed my quick lunch on an bench under a large leafy tree – the weekends when I have passed are very different with large groups of families enjoying the opportunity to socialize and get out in the fresh air – clean and tidy on my visit after the weekend a different story – as I have said before there is little resemblance the precise and manicured Japanese Gardens of the sort I have seen in the East

We had our day planned, we would go braai at the garden and then go to the beach. When we got there i was really surprised to find birthday parties and baby showers being setup. This place has a very nice setting for these events, but would encourage the municipality to enforce better security as vagrants could just walk especially if your setting up near the gate. We luckily cane there early and left when the crowds (Attendees of parties) started getting in and some could not get inside parking. I would suggest going on Sundays when not alot of events is catered for there

I have not visited the Japanese Gardens in Durban North for years as I now live in the Western Cape. Personally I think that it is looking a little shabby and unkept. This is not how I remember it and I do remember many brides having their photographs taken there. I doubt that this happens as it does not look great.
