I am Disappointed and Disgusted!! The sewerage are spilling on the beach. When you go down the stairs next to thirsty Whales you are greeted with an awful smell! And a huge suprise of sewerage! This is really disgusting. I will not recommend Amanzimtoti beach to anyone

Toti's main beach (February 2024) is cleaner than last year (February 2023. Last year the rivers cane down, bringing with it all kinds of rubbish), but it is still a far cry from any "Blue flag" status Toti’s main beach it is striving for. Still bottlecaps, plastic straws and cups, plastic spoons and cigarette butts spoil the cleanliness. E.coli in the water is another crisis the has to be attended too. What is the use of travelling more than 900 kilometres, just the find the beach closed? Sections of the promenade (walkways) that has been damaged by storms more than a decade ago, still has not been restored and the other sections are strewn with rubble and broken glass. Many lamps amongst the promenades are broken or not working, which make these areas unsafe at night. The area just above the beach is unkept and untidy and in a state of dilapidation. It seems that maintenance and development are merely words in the dictionary. The main beach is the goose that lays the golden eggs and holidaymakers are a huge source of income for the town. My experience is that the holidaymakers are declining year after year. We have seen this happening in the timeshare accommodation that we have been visiting for the past 35 years. The occupancy, although out of season, has dropped from about 60 percent just more than 10 years ago, to less than 10 percent at present. This has a knock-on effect for restaurants and small business in Toti. The municipality must attend to these situations, or more and more people would rather travel to Mozambique as is the trend in Gauteng, Mpumalanga and Limpopo – where we are from. The beachfront needs a proper makeover and has to be well maintained. Next year me and my family, will add ourselves to the ever-growing list of people that search for alternative options. Unless Toti gets its house in order, they will not see me or my family again.

We stayed at Toti Cabanas and what a disaster. Our room was never cleaned properly and had to ask for new towels and linnen. There was plenty of cockroaches. I mentioned to management and all that was said was they make use of pest control. They also advertise by the pool snacks by there canteen and when asked they said the lady is on leave. Pathetic. Will never go back there

We couldn't swim, the beach was dirty.

There isn't anything nice to say about this beach. Damaged, dirty, smelly, broken taps running constantly, no seating area

We own a timeshare apartment in Beachroad and visit Toti annually in February. We have done so since the late 1970's! Our experience is that the beach and the area around the beach, including the promenade, deteriorates annually and are in a state of decay. Toti is one of the better swimming beaches on the South Coast, but it is dirty with plastics, papers and rubble from untidy fishermen. If Toti wants to reclaim its status as a blue-flag beach, the municipality will have to do something about it.
