What people are saying
Sadly, the best free park we have found in Jozi
3.0 of 5 bubblesMay 2021
Let me preface this by saying that my kids favorite things are playgrounds and that I have high expectations for safety and cleanliness at playgrounds. Mushroom Park, like so many things in Jozi, it has so much potential but it is not maintained. I bet this park was great when it was first built, not it is just okay. Based on the layout, I looks like you used to be able to do a loop walk but where there should be a bridge is just an abrupt end to the path. The one bridge that is still in existence is in need of repair. It has broken foot boards, missing side rails/supports, and in need of a new paint job. The park grounds themselves were fairly free of trash but the stream that runs through the park was full of trash. There were several people having picnics at the park or laying out on blankets enjoying a nice fall day. The playgrounds (the most important part of any park for my family) were okay. As with most of my reviews of things in Johannesburg, it comes down to lack of maintenance. The liner in the sand part of the playground was exposed in multiple places, there was a lot of debris in the sand area, and the metal playset in the sand area was exposed that the bottom. The wooden playsets needed some maintenance too. I saw at least two broken chains on the wooden bridges for the playsets, one of the bolts a swing set was broken/missing, and there were several wooden parts that were in need of replacement. My kids were having a great time but we ended up leaving early because a group of young adults showed up with a hookah and started to smoke it on the wall next to the playground. With 75000R and three kids in need of an Eagle Scout project, this could be a great park (again, I think).

Right in the heart of the Sandton CBD is this lovely well kept park, with a stream, lots of grass for picnics or children to run and play and a really great restaurant on site with controlled entry parking. What a pleasure. Take a break and visit.

This park was clean and safe , lots of the kids to do with equipment nicely spaced out. Very relaxing and entertaining and doesn’t cost anything. Lovely gym equipment and a mini stroll around a lake/pond with different types of birds

Mushroom park is just opposite hote raddison blue . It’s one of those tiny places which pack in a lot to see. It has cute wooden bridges as you walk on the pathways and also an outdoor gym for public use . It also has a play area for kids with climbing equipment’s . The trees look lovely during autumn and summers . You’ll also see pretty birds around the stream running through . It’s a safe area with parking and no entry fees and a guard at entrance . Recently a lovely cafe opened inside and we’ve seen the botanical inspired interiors - didn’t get a chance to eat there but you must keep that in your to-do as it’s lovingly constructed ! Mushroom park is great in terms of crowd - you’ll find it empty in the mornings so it’s peaceful for a morning walk . It also had a parachute few months ago but it’s not there anymore .

My kids and I love the place where it has many play ground with sand place for different ages of kids.

Kids may run and play freely in the park and we may enjoy the sunshine while watching our kids having fun!
