We were in Pretoria on business and decided to do something fun at the end of our trip. My colleague got in touch with African Tracks Safaris based on the TripAdvisor's review. This is how we met Johan, our guide. We used his services for 2 days. On the first day we went to see elephants and cheetahs. Both parks/centers are located next to each other, so it makes sense to combine these trips. The next day we went to Dinokeng game reserve (their game drives are 6 am, 9 am, 2 pm, 4:30 pm and 8:30 pm). We did a 9 am drive. The reserve is within 45-50 min drive from Pretoria. Both trips are highly recommended. Elephants and cheetahs are in sanctuaries, they are still wild, but are taken care of the humans and are used to humans. For that reason you will be able to see them vey close and in case of elephants, you will be able to feed and touch them or even be "kissed". Cheetahs will be walking next to the truck expecting to be fed. The guides for both places were very knowledgeable. The game drive at Dinokeng was not as amazing to me personally (I did a safari in Tanzania during winter/their summer time). However we got to see the buffalos and three white rhinos very close. Giraffes were at a distance. We did not get to see any cats or elephants (but that was fine, because the day before we got plenty of cheetah and elephants experience). Also in order to see more animals you need to do several drives at different times of the day and ideally stay in the park. There is a private game lodge (Mongena) in the park where one can stay in a cabin. They also have a nice restaurant with a deck overlooking a pond. We had lunch there after our 9 am game drive. Now about Johan, our guide. We really enjoyed his company. He is a true professional, has been in business for almost 10 years. Very knowledgeable and passionate about preserving wild life. He is very articulate and a pleasure to be around, a true gentleman. He has a great network in the industry and is well placed to customize your trip on a short notice. His SUV is nice and new. He gave us colorful printouts of our daily itineraries and provided an invoice. He has a credit card terminal handy and will accept credit card payment at the end of a trip. Very well organized and very professional. I plan on returning to SA and possibly brining my family. I would not hesitate to use Johan's services again. He also made a nice video of our trip and send it to my whatsup. I shared it with my family and friends..

A big advantage of African Tracks is that you can return the car in Kasane, Botswana. During our 3 Week travel, we had no real issues with the car. We traveled more than 4000 km on gravel roads. Our questions were answered via email immediately. Picking up the car war also very good and fast. So, thumbs up. We can recommend African Tracks.

great company! great people!

definitely focuses on the clients’ experience but remaining mindful of the programs.

very realistic with what can be accommodated but always over delivers! my second time with the group and would engage them again for the next visit!

it’s always been a great experience with them at the helm!

Thank you Elvis, we just made it out of the park and on to the freeway when the downpour started. The lions next to the road on the way out were awesome not to mention the two elephants close to the safari vehicle. Let me know when you are back in September, perhaps there's time for a two-night stay or even a trip down to the Kruger National Park. A fantastic evening to you!

Me and my colleague had a weekend spare on our work trip to Pretoria and Johan arranged to take us to Dinokeng nature reserve at a week's notice - it was great to get out of the city! Johan picked us up straight from the hotel and we were in Dinokeng in under 30 mins. Johan was so knowledgeable about the local area and the wildlife in South Africa and made an excellent tour guide. He was also kind enough to take pictures and send them over to us afterwards!

Wonderful half day tour of the sites organised at the last minute. Johan was both knowledgeable and courteous and we have no qualms in recommending African Track Safaris.

I spent a wonderful day with Johan at Pilanesberg National Park. He really impressed me with his sound knowledge not only of the Park itself, but also about the wildlife and nature. We managed to see the Big 5 and just had a great day together. I would highly recommend Johan and African Tracks Safari!

We originally hired Johan to pick us up from Johannesburg Airport and take us to Pretoria. Once in the car, we realized he was SO much more than a pick-up service. He took us to the Cheetah Center on the day of our arrival and suggested we visit the Cullinan Diamond Mine the next day. He was not available, but called around and found another tour guide "Footprints in Africa" to take us. We are so appreciative of Johan's efforts to get us to 2 of the top sites in Pretoria.
The next morning, Johan took us to the Rovos Train. He was on time and clearly knew his way around South Africa. I highly recommend Johan for your Safari trips and for site-seeing spots in and around Pretoria.
