The Home of Great South African Beer - Since 1820. Visit us, tour the brewery and taste our award-winning beers.

Nestled at the foot of Devil's Peak and neighbour to the historic rugby & cricket grounds, is the oldest operating brewery in South Africa and the home of great South African beer - Newlands Brewery.

Lovers of delicious, natural refreshment are invited to experience a taste of brewing history, followed by a look into modern-day brewing methods, by joining a fully guided tour of Newlands Brewery.

The tour follows the journey of beer from its beginning as a grain, to its end as a well crafted, ice-cold treasure, fittingly ending with a beer tasting and a couple of pints in the brewery's historic underground pub.

So enjoy being surprised and the brewery tour followed by the beer paring certainly did that. The retired brewer gave an excellent and informative presentation of the history and processes of the brewery. I am not a beer drinker but learnt so much and change many mis-perceptions. The four course meal by Creative Catering was superb and the dessert was... More

I think this place is one of Cape Town's undiscovered wonders and a playground for Beer Lovers and historians alike. I went alone and was surprised to get this magnificent tour all to myself. They have an amazing setup, but it seems many tourists don't know about it. The brewery itself is huge and absolutely outstanding and the history behind... More

We joined the tour and we learnt so much about this iconic brewery in Newlands. All the beer is made from natural water from Table Mountain. Wow. They still have the same number of staff as 100 years ago. Such a nice tour. With drink afterwards in the pub downstairs. Do it!

We visited the brewery on a Groupon voucher. The tour was well managed and very informative. The tasting afterwards was very enjoyable and the social get together in the pub area after very good fun. Well recommended.
