The Home of Great South African Beer - Since 1820. Visit us, tour the brewery and taste our award-winning beers.

Nestled at the foot of Devil's Peak and neighbour to the historic rugby & cricket grounds, is the oldest operating brewery in South Africa and the home of great South African beer - Newlands Brewery.

Lovers of delicious, natural refreshment are invited to experience a taste of brewing history, followed by a look into modern-day brewing methods, by joining a fully guided tour of Newlands Brewery.

The tour follows the journey of beer from its beginning as a grain, to its end as a well crafted, ice-cold treasure, fittingly ending with a beer tasting and a couple of pints in the brewery's historic underground pub.

I love the smell of raw beer in the morning. The hum of bottling machines is like a symphony to my ears. The pallets of carefully wrapped product waiting for lorries to whisk them away delight my eyes. All this and more awaits you at Newlands . . . The Newlands tour is a trip through the evolution of beer... More

I did the tour of the Newlands Brewery before going to a match at the Newlands Stadium. The tour was well presented by very knowledgable guide and was very interesting. The tasting sessions and couple of drinks at the end of the tour was the perfect precursor to the match.

A great destination for anyone interested in big beer. Amazing to see the size of the operation and the speed at which the beer is bottled and dispatched. Insider Tip: Did the heritage tour which goes into detail about the history of the area with Dennis da Silva. R50 gets you a tour, a tasting and free drinks afterwards. You... More

Wow, what a great time for R50 per person, this is a well run tour of a brewery, very interesting and you see the whole operation, about an hours tour and then 6 beer tastings and then two free pints of beer/lager. You must book in advance.

This was the best tour I have taken of a full scale comercial brewery. The best was watching the bottling lines running. If you like seeing how its made this is for you. And if you just like beer then it is also for you, you get a tasting and 2 pints at the end of the tour.

Amazing tour guide. Very interesting tasting session. 2 free drinks. Lots of new facts. A very real look at a working brewery. Covers the history, ingredients, brewing process and packaging. And a certificate at the end.

This is not just about beer, it is about Mega Factory and production science. Natural spring water used at Newlands Brewery. The tour is a great extra on a tour and makes any beer lovers must do! Plus 2 free beers and tasting!

The tour was excellent. I found it most informative. Absolutely amazed by the processes involved in making a product that we take for granted. Very professional staff.

I have done the tour of the Newlands Brewery on a number of occasions and have found the tour to be interesting, informative and fresh each time. The guides have a wealth of knowledge and interesting facts about one of the oldest breweries in SA. I recommend the tour as a relaxing, informative and pleasurable outing, however, I suggest that...
