About
The Home of Great South African Beer - Since 1820. Visit us, tour the brewery and taste our award-winning beers. Nestled at the foot of Devil's Peak and neighbour to the historic rugby & cricket grounds, is the oldest operating brewery in South Africa and the home of great South African beer - Newlands Brewery. Lovers of delicious, natural refreshment are invited to experience a taste of brewing history, followed by a look into modern-day brewing methods, by joining a fully guided tour of Newlands Brewery. The tour follows the journey of beer from its beginning as a grain, to its end as a well crafted, ice-cold treasure, fittingly ending with a beer tasting and a couple of pints in the brewery's historic underground pub.

I booked the visit for my husband and we both really enjoyed the experience.
Very well organised throughout , from booking , being issued with a car parking pass , to the tour and beer tasting and of course the pub ! Would definitely recommend.

Really enjoyed the brewery tour booked efficiently online. Andile was an informative tour guide and answered many additional questions during our tour and beer tasting.
After the tour, we got to spend time in the brewery bar and garden- with complimentary beer of our choice.
Well worth the visit!

This was our second time here, and it was an enjoyable afternoon. You get a tour of Newlands Brewery, with a bit of history, and you get shown around the brewery and bottling plant. Afterwards, you get to taste 5 beers, and spend some time in the pub where you have two beer tokens to spend. The tour guide was knowledgeable and patient.
You don't need to love beer to visit, the whole process is interesting, and they do serve ciders and soft drinks in the pub.
Recommend to full an afternoon, especially in Winter.

The reception is confusing, as lady at reception, also do the tours, we started late. But the tour and beer tasting were great and you receive two extra beers afterwards at a R100 per person.

Thank you for coming, we're glad you enjoyed your #BeerExperience tour! It's very important for us to keep the plant as clean as possible, so thank you for your comment - we will pass it on to the Cellar manager!

Very interesting Brewery Tour. I was very impressed to find Lion Lager at the end of the tour at the pub. I haven't had a Lion Lager in about ten years.

A very kind parent arranged a tour for parents and with our teenagers. It was such great fun especially the beer tasting as the end. The packaging hall is always the all time second favorite, after the beer tasting of course. The tour guide Alexsia was totally great and passionate about her job and this made the difference

Alexia was top, explained calmly and nicely all steps, areas of the brewery and all kinda of beers there produced. The tasting was great and if not enough, we even got 2 beers each to drink. Only down side is you cant take a bottle with you which for anyone on a schedule, its not great; but beers are great!

The Tour & Tasting costs ZAR100 per person. The tour takes about an hour and includes a bit of history, a walk through the brewery (brewhouse, fermentation, packaging & warehouse) and finishes in the pub with a tasting and 2 complimentary beers.
