Lovely food, great service and in a nice setting. When in the Cape the Montebello design centre is one of my favourite places to visit, particularly the Mogalakwena shop. I always eat at the cafe in the garden.

Quite a pleasant surprise: a big area full of shops, atelier, artist studios and a nice bar restaurant cafeteria.
We have visited a few of the artist’ studios and we have been fascinated by what is offered. On top everybody was so nice and always ready to explain, inform and give good advices.
We bought few things but We would have liked to get more: this is the perfect place to shop and to get some present to bring back home.

A very interesting collection of people who work to improve innovate and produce "Art" which differes from the norm.

A remarkable a talkented Artist who uses african fabric in her works, is the very friendly & talented Lesley Charnock. When we visited her Gallery, she was in the process of painting a still life of Roses - pink white and rose in a clear vase - but like all true artists, she was not satisfied with the arrangement. Unlike most artists she dropped her paintbrush and took us on a mini tour of her work! Now who would do that.

We were thinking about purchasing a work - a portrait of an African Woman (mainly blue hues with parchment fabrics adorning a headdress). It looked very imposing and looking at the eyes you felt like the woman looked into you. She (Lesley) questioned us about where we would display her work, and we realised with her advice that our red, brown, warm colours in our living room would clash and disrupt her work. We were honest and so was she. She cares about her work and to whom who she sells her work.

Also there is a lovely little coffee shop come restaurant - The Gardeners Cottage. Very very busy with local people & passers by, poping in for lunch, coffee & cake, afternoon tea etc. Spend some time here as it has a great feel with the large tree canopies shading the sun from where you sit.

Super place and everyone is so friendly.

The walkways around the picnic cafe are hopelessly uneven and extremely dangerous. In addition some genius has added obstacles in the form of fish fin sculptures to guide you into this death trap. I saw an elderly fall heavily due to the uneven surface and cut herself badly on a metal cover. It's only a matter of time before someone sues the heck out of this place.

As a tourist in CT I was looking for somewhere different to visit for a few hours and the Montebello Design Centre came up in a Google search. It's a fabulous place with a great story and wonderful refurbished farm buildings now housing a varied array of local artists work. The setting is calm and leafy with a great cafe to enjoy a delicious lunch.

A nice find. This non-profit art and craft space is nestled amongst beautiful trees. Here you will find a quaint cafe featuring it's cakes. There is also a gift shop with amazing items. Stop for a coffee and sit among the trees.
