Management and owners of this establishment should take responsibility and offer a public apology to the Asian Community for their arrogance and insensitivity towards the recent racial incident at their establishment. By keeping quiet and refusing to apologise just proves they condone such racist profiling. Until such time the Asian Community and anyone that disapproves of racism should refrain from giving them any support.

From a favorite place to we will never go again! Minus TWO. Our chips were either from left overs or 3 days old, a pity Jean left. The chef is either inexperienced or has a don't care attitude so does the floor manager. She is way over her head, cares only for large sittings. She has no clue that loyal, happy customers create income.
The owner had a great dream and the place is popular but this can change overnight.
No mention at the gate of R50 conservation fee, previously R30. The gate keeper had a hangover and gave permits for free to the vehicle ahead of us.
We have no problem with the fee but when the meal is shocking and the table covered with flies it is unacceptable. We have asked for candles and are still waiting.
Many friends and family visited Cradle Moon a few times we will NEVER go back, stay away!

Absolutely appalling. Was recommended by friends to try it out. Never again, first and last time. Went on a Sunday, over 1000 people, no social distancing, few people wearing masks. Poorly sign posted, few staff for so many people. Walked for 30 minutes trying to find the restaurant on the lake, got there, long queues. Promptly walked back to car and left. To be avoided at all costs during the Covid19 pandemic. Only positive was not having to pay the conservancy fee of R30 per person.

The restaurant on the dam is uniquely and beautifully set. However, the restaurant itself is overcrowded on a weekend with tables too close to one another. The setting of the restaurant is undermined by the noise of the crowd. The waiters seem to be overrun and cleaning of the tables and surroundings in between customers is lacking. Even the plate on which our chips was served was dirty. Would not recommend on a weekend. Perhaps weekdays are better.

Recently completed the green route hiking trail at cradle moon. The trail is well marked and follows a circular route around cradle lake.
With the exception of a few meters of very narrow and steep paths, the trail is not extremely challenging or difficult.
Other activities include mountain biking / canoeing / fishing.
Tip - when completing the green route hike always keep to the left as a large part of the trail intertwines with the trails used by mountain bikers.
The best pictures can be taken at the end of the trail by the cradle dam wall.
The R50 entrance fee is money we’ll spent.

Walked the Green Trail on 5 March 2022.
The property, especially on the restaurant side of the dam, contains some of the most degraded veld l have ever encountered. Invasive alien vegetation is completely out of control - including trees. The owner/s and management clearly don't have a clue, or don't care about, the custodianship of this environment.

HORRIBLE experience. Zero Covid protocols, non- existing service, dirty setting, no heads-up on additional conservation fees (even if you just go for a meal)
Disrespectful and rude towards customers and even on numerous requests to see a manager, best they could do was to send a “security” guard that could not make any decisions. Worst of all, we were 6 people at the same time begging for assistance / feedback……. So many other nice nice places in the cradle to support - where they at least listen to their customers. Will never see me, my family, my friends, colleagues again…..

What a super place to go for a hike - the trails are marked well and the 10km hike was easy for my 10 year old and finished with a beautiful view. We were pleasantly surprised by the venue and the food at the end was put together in 10 minutes with every table full. Great food and great service.

Went with friends to do a hike recently, completed the green route. The trail is picturesque and scenic. Can take some beautiful pics along the river and dam wall.
Not a shady route so need to carry water and hats.
There's always activities so can be busy. Did not know about the other activities like canoeing / fishing.
Did not hear good comments about the restaurant so avoided that.
The R70 entrance fee is otherwise well spent.

We waited 2 hours for lunch. Some items on the menu were not available. Not enough umbrellas at our table even though we booked well in advance. They cancelled our game drive, citing rain as an excuse but it never rained.
