. The Water Hole cafe at the entrance belongs to the same owners
Feb 2020
We stopped at Cambanos & Sons midday with Gate 1 Tour group. The Water Hole cafe at the entrance belongs to the same owners as shown on the check for the meal.
We waited 40 minutes. Everything except meat inside (one beef and ne chicken) was absolutely cold!!!. A bread, tomato, cheese and even bacon were absolutely cold. Besides us, other tourists had such a problem. This is the cooking method in this cafe. I could say that because after complain manager tried to hand me a bottle of alcohol.

Lunch and shopping opportunity
Jul 2019
We stopped at Cambanos & Sons midday, between tours of Johannesburg/Soweto in the morning and Pretoria on the afternoon. Curio selection was OK, but nothing that compelled us to buy. The best thing about this stop for us was the chance to have a very nice casual lunch between long tours at the onsite eatery, The Water Hole. (The Cambanos site calls it The Watering Hole, but the sign — clearly visible in a photo on the website — says “The Water Hole.”)

South African racial divides very evident at this store
Jul 2019 • Couples
If you are looking for African crafts and artifacts near Johannesburg, DO NOT shop here. Black customers and white customers are treated very differently. The 10 or so white owners/managers barely acknowledged us as we shopped -- several looked right at me and said nothing. But when a American white family entered, they proactively introduced themselves and told the family to make themselves at home. Then we witnessed a black employee leave the store for his break, and he was patted down to make sure he himself had not stolen anything...The white employees entered and exited freely.

The widest variety and the best prices
May 2019 • Solo
Great service. Best prices and biggest variety of African curio items and beautiful jewelry. The business is ran by the owners that are around giving peace of mind.

Variety is key

Tour Guide recommendation and therefore only a sales opportunity. Although they did have a stand up to order food process which although limited did breakfast sandwiches and staved off the hunger. Largest selection of non-authentic souvenirs I had seen. North Africa produces most of the products for tourists to purchase in S. A.

Souvenirs Galore
Oct 2018 • Couples
Supposedly a wholesaler of curio and souvenirs. They have a huge showroom with almost African item you can think of.

Prices are average retail but the selection is enormous.

One stop shopping!
Jul 2018 • Friends
Anything legal you can think of for souvenirs is available. The variety is incrediblel. We arrived early on a cold morning, they offered coffee which we said YES to. The staff is beyond helpful. They made suggestions, asked if we were looking for anything particular, escorted my husband to exactly what he wanted. They carefully wrap all purchases and fill out any and all documents you need for importation into the USA. Fantastic and MUST STOP destination,!!!!

Great souvenirs, good prices
May 2018 • Solo
I stay in Jo'burg but went here for a look. Great range of African goods at reasonable prices. Staff very helpful and friendly. Obviously mainly tourist here but not sure why you need to go through form filling to park in car park, a little off putting and seems unnecessary. Though I'm guessing bus tour guest don't do this. That said, would definitely bring visitors here and well worth a visit.
