Girl Power at Stoke City Adventure Park Cable Queens Wake Boarding Session
Mar 2020
The Stoke City Adventure Park Cable Queens Saturday proved a massive success as ladies enjoyed some girl-powered wake boarding fun at the beautiful Stoke City Adventure Park. This ladies only session is hosted on the first Saturday of every month. The morning started off with delicious cappuccinos and a breakfast platter which we enjoyed together as we were briefed in on the activities for the morning.

What is great about the Stoke City Adventure Park is the state-of-the-art cable system that they have, meaning no boats are used – this is referred to as “flat water skiing” and, in Chantal’s words, “the chances of face planting are less.” One simply holds onto the handle of the two tower cable (this is for when you start out as it takes you both forward and backward with a deep water start in the water) or the main cable (which has a five tower cable system where you start off the dock).

I started off at the two tower cable and with expert instructors who guided me through the speaker system embedded in the helmet I wore, I easily transitioned to the main cable. When needing a break, we enjoyed some fun in the sun on the Aqua Park floating obstacle course, complete with a trampoline and climbing wall. With the ability to host over 5000 people (as was done when the Stoke City Adventure Park hosted the first ever WARRIOR race in South Africa), braai facilities and many child-friendly options – the opportunities for entertainment are endless.

A “must” for a hot summer’s day
Feb 2018 • Family
I had no idea this place existed on my doorstep. Perfect to spend the day at during the hot summer months. It offers a large dam with a huge inflatable obstacle course floating on the water. You can spend an hour or more climbing the obstacle and jumping off the top into the cooling water below. A giant contraption similar to a ski lift, drags you around the dam on a surf board or knee board so you can learn to surf. The pros use it for fun, the beginners get instructions and try to get as far as possible before losing balance. There is a restaurant and a shop where you can purchase essentials for water fun. The activities are quite pricey but worth the experience. Would be ideal as a birthday party venue if it wasn’t quite expensive to pay for all the kids activities.

No longer available to share

We have been swimming at this dam for years, always able to mix the boarding with open water swimming, then they got bought by new owners who now no longer allow swimmers, even on the side. They are in the business of boarding.... Well thanks for sharing the water.

Stoke City had us stoked!
Mar 2014 • Family
Stoke City is a dam with a difference! You can wake board, knee board or ski on the dam in complete safety as there are no boats racing up and down. The activities all make use of a cableway in the water where you hang onto ski ropes suspended from a moving cable...much safer, and loads of fun for the kids and adults alike! All equipment, including helmets, can be hired at the park, just take your cozzie, a towel and sunblock! For those who aren't water babies, the surroundings are beautiful, and there is a fairly decent takeaway restaurant, big umbrellas and tables, braai facilities (take your own charcoal!), lots of beautiful lawn to lie on, an off road bicycle track and an off road motorbike track. All in all, a great day out for the whole family!

awesome fun at reasonable price
Jan 2014 • Family
Today we went to Stoke City the first time and it was awesome. The prices are reasonable : R30 entrance fee, R150/one hour, R220/ two hours or R350 for the day which includes skies, boards, helmet and vest and you can take as many turns as you want to (and manage to stay on...). The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, the facilities very clean and there a few other things to do if you don't feel like exhausting yourself :-)....pack your family, braai packs and drinks and spend an entire day and you certainly won't regret it. Besides the bruises and muscle pain you might suffer from afterwards :-)))

Cool wakeboard park in Midrand
Sep 2013 • Solo
This place is really cool. It is a cable tow wakeboard park. I think everyone should go try it. It is just off the Olifontsfontein road and was about 5 minutes from Barefoot Backpackers cabins. It took me time but I was able to ride around in about 2 hours
