Indeed 27 boxes, some of them like containers, are stacked like Lego blocks forming a shopping center with restaurants and bars. An interesting low-cost architectural design.
There are different special shops selling clothes, but also books. I liked the fact all establishments are managed with care, an increasingly rare quality in South Africa nowadays. Moreover, the neighborhood is relatively safe.
There is a parking lot and also a playground for children.

If you're looking a cool space to have a drink, shop, and have an impromptu photoshoot, this is a nice place to it. The fact they re-purposed shipping containers makes it even more appealing. There you can find some interesting shopping and even a second hand store.

The idea of setting up a small mall by stacking containers looks pretty cool and creates a unique atmosphere for shopping. The only downside to my opinion is the selection of shops - lots of small art, clothing and a some food stalls has a tendency to get boring quite fast.

27 Boxes is a shopping and dining experience with a difference – constructed out of shipping containers, it has great spaces and light.
Yet it has very few customers and a lot of shops are closed.
I’ve been there several times during October 2018 and never seen sizable clientele. I feel very bad for the traders and restaurateurs who deserve better. Aside from the too-empty space, the WiFi doesn’t work.
The management ought to swallow their pride and start taking constructive criticism. Some of the traders have told me of great ideas they have that the management is unwilling to heed. This is a great idea that lacks the spark needed to take fire.
Worth a visit? Yes, while it’s still going. I’ve been several times to a really nice coffee shop, Soul Café, facing out to the nursery, in effect a garden view. There are great play spaces for young kids and parking, for now, is free.

Business hours on the web say it opens at 10. I was there at 10:30 and half the stores still hadn’t opened yet. There’s not that many retailers there to be honest, lots of empty store spaces. Is a very cool space and has a lot of potential, but at present I didn’t think it was anything special

27 Boxes is intended to provide opportunities for small and artesianal - style business. This means that, over time, some will go, and new ones will open.
We had not been for some time, and as we entered, all we could smell was the wonderful aroma of freshly baked bread. The little bakery with its freshly baked goods a welcome new addition.
Some very nice restaurants and food -truck type food stalls means that there are some nice choices.
Some really nice shops, from jewelry to clothing and everything in between. Fantastic new record store.
The outside kids area has been upgraded and, with the food stalls makes it a perfect venue for families.

What a wonderful center to walk through and browse in as it uses cargo bins for shops. A very clever way to create a modern feel of shopping. There was a nice variety of shops and art galleries, and a lot of open space. Clever boutiques with great gift ideas, good coffee shops, and a nice nursery on the other side with a playground for children. A fun way to shop.

Not sure if I came at the wrong time or what, but I didnt see alot of shops and it was practically empty.
Don't get me wrong, the shops that were there were cool and I got a couple of cute things.
There was a coffee shop and the coffee was the best coffee I've ever had in my life!
I was just underwhelmed as everyone hyped it up to be a great busy shopping centre.

I visited for coffee and a famous “cronut” from one of the shops. I was impressed with the structure, the combination of vendors, the well maintained restrooms and facilities. Would love to return.
Ideal for inner city events/ coffee/ meals/ shopping.

Who wants to go to a mall when you can go to 27 boxes!? There is a wide variety of shops each in its own container. The product offerings are unique and local. While there, be sure to visit Xando for the best cronuts around. There is street and parkade parking available.
