I was lucky enough to get the half day tour all to myself, which meant my guide Tsholo could customise it a bit more. He took me to places that were off the tourist track - so I saw the real Jozi. It was such a great way to learn and get to know the true side of the city, with a true local. We walked around parts of downtown and saw the amazing architecture and mining history. It also proves that parts of downtown Joburg are safe enough to walk around - you just need to know where. Hanging out with Tsholo was like having a good friend show you their city - it really was fun and the conversation flowed. If you’re open to travel and learning all the good, the bad and the ugly parts about Joburg, this is a great way to do it, especially if you have limited time. The apartheid history will have you choking up, however then you’ll be buoyed by the sheer potential of the city. Absolutely recommend MoAfrika for day tours!

I really appreciate MoAfrika tours in their professional way of executing trips. Safe, reliable, good communication before and during the trip. Open vehicle drives were great although it was a very hot day and many of the animals were hiding in the shadows. As a woman travelling alone I felt safe from the beginnig to the end.

We absolutely loved our half day tour of Soweto. Tsholo was a wonderful guide, he was informative, interesting and answered all of our questions. He made us laugh and also cry, when we visited the Hector Pietersen Memorial and Museum. It was so heartbreaking and moving. We felt honoured to have Soweto opened up for us, it was a great joy to visit the daycare and have the children sing. Please keep up the good work you are doing there. The drive through North Jo'burg was also very interesting and certainly highlights the great divide between the haves and have nots. I really wish we'd had more time to explore further because Jo'burg has a lot more to offer than I ever credited it for. A huge thanks to Tsholo for making this visit so memorable. I will certainly be recommending to anyone who visits Jo'burg that this tour must be part of their itinerary.

The visit was amazing - it far exceeded our expectations. Thourouly enjoyed every aspect of the trip - we saw lions, cheetahs, leopards, giraffes, hyenas, and wild dogs.

That was a great experience! We didn't have much time in Johannesburg, but thanks to that trip we saw a lot of interesting places! I can definitely recommend it !

I couldn’t have planned the trip better myself! I was so ignorant of South African history! The tour was captivating, informative, fun (Etu our guide is ‘simply the best’!) and we even had a safely escorted tour amongst some of the dwellings in Soweto Township. What a privilege. I had no feelings of being at risk at any time. Etu kept us informed all the way. Very humbling and just overall AMAZING!

I don't have the answer. But, much of the tour of Soweto can be seen from the van. You may not want to use the wheelchair on the dirt path for part of the Soweto tour. If you have a wheel chair, the two museums appear to accommodate wheelchair access.

Hi, I'd like to see Soweto but am.unsure whether to book the full day Soweto cum.Apartheid Museum tour or just the half day Soweto Tour. Which one would get you into the Hector Pietersen Museum? And would you pick.me up from Rosebank? I'd like to go on Friday 4 May, thanks.

They picked us up in Rosebank both days. Second day we were dropped off at airport. I would encourage Apartheid museum. If you don’t do it with MoAfrica, you can do it on your own. Uber is very efficient and inexpensive. Ask MoAfrica about Pietersen museum, we were unable to go inside. MoAfrica is great with their chat, so you should get a prompt reply.

Hi there.
So Moafrika does definitely operate in the rain.
Usually, we have seasonal rain and thundershowers in South Africa. We do sometimes get those overcast and rainy days, but that's the best time to go out on game drives. Animals do tend to be more active when it's cooler and you'll see a lot more activity. You'll also get the best photo opportunities as you won't need to worry about shadows etc.

Hi, question regarding the Soweto tours.... reading the tour descriptions it says that it drives past a lot of things, eg Mandelas House and Desmond Tutu’s house. Do they stop so you can have a look and take photos or is it all drive by viewing which isn’t really how I like to see things. Thanks in advance.

Hi , Moafrika Tours our guides are local from soweto . They take you to many places not all on the Itinerary and you can stop where ever you like. Our guides are trained to be flexible and will stop for a quick photo where ever you like.The do always stop at certain highlights and again anywhere you like as we want you to get the most out of your tour.We do not include Mandela House in our Rate mainly because it comes with a high cover charge R80 per person for a 20 min tour. It is optional and time is allocated if you want to go inside and enjoy it. The rest of the places are all included.hope this is helpful
