Arts on Main is a great art space to visit, especially on a Saturday morning to visit the food market, and for the fascinating special events at the Centre for the Less Good Idea. The Maboneng area has many great arts attractions in general, well...More

Fantastic vibe. Good selection of food and offers a local flavour of johannesburgers. I would recommend going even once.

You might walk right past this spot and that would be a shame. It includes several galleries grouped around an inner courtyard. Each is more interesting than the last.

Arts and food combine together for a good vibe. On Sundays, the food market is outstanding. There are a couple nice shops upstairs and a restaurant in the courtyard.

Part of the Maboneng precinct, very enjoyable to stroll around on a Sunday to look at the different art works on view. The food market next door is also worth a visit where you can browse the foods from various nationalities before making your choice.

Visited Market on Main late July 2017. Really a nice place with small shops, restaurants, food market and design stuff. Safe and vibrant.

The name would imply that it is an art district - it isn't. There are really only two "attractions": The 12 Decades hotel which has art works on each floor and a Kentridge studio (and book shop). There are other small places selling art but...More

What a lovelly little restaurant! The waitress was very attentive and the food was seriously delish! Outside seating is just 2 tables but more inside. Only drawback are the hawkers and beggers approaching the outside tables.

We arrived at 10:00 a.m. Sunday morning and many artists were still setting up. It's worth taking a close look at all. Initially disappointed (a lot of similar items), we were thrilled to find an artist who made some interesting unique woodwork. The prices were...More

Hi Smileymel! During the week it is a bit more quiet and as Marleon2 stated above, the best times are on a Saturday and Sunday. That is when the main market is open to all types of stores with various foods and tasters. It... More
