Display areas of the animals were very large, so the animals have quite comfortable living spaces. Zoo is a safe place for tourists, good family activity for a day. There is also an amusement park area, but the toys are very old and I don’t...More

Firstly make sure you go to the new parking parkade, Upper Park Drive (R15 / car) and not park on the street sidewalk where you will be harassed by parking attendants. The zoo itself is need of a little attention, many of the gardens were...More

There is definitely room for improvement in terms of the standard and upkeep of the zoo. Still, there is a lot to see and it can be a fun day out.

A well spend day at the Joburg Zoo. It is a place that family, friends, kids, teens and couples can go and spend quality time whilst enjoying viewing the different animals, birds, etc at the Zoo.

The Johannesburg Zoo is well maintained. The animals look well taken care of. Cages were clean. They offer a zoo walk on certain Sundays and it's a wonderful way to see the animals and keep fit at the same time.

Such a pity that the place is so badly managed and run down. It can be great but no effort by vendors or staff, leaves one very dissapointed. What was once a great place is now well just sad to see.

The Joburg Zoo's atmosphere is very refreshing and ecstatic, the breeze from animal smell and freshness of the surrounding sends one to tranquil. The habitant animals boosts the Southern Africa of rare species in the world.

Hi Ruth Just called to find out for you - there do NOT have the golf cart tours available anymore but do have wheelchairs for hire (R100 per day). Hope this helps.
