An interesting day

This is the worst zoo to visit! When we went there every second cage didn't have animals due to water pollution or something als. The zoo is massive and doesn't have proper signs to show you where to go. Don't wast your time with joburg zoo rather go to Pretoria zoo.

The zoo is always a place to visit. The place is just not the same, little bit under maintained but still worth visiting.

Bird watchers would have a good time, unfortunately several of the big game animals were not to be found. This may be due to the construction of a large multistorey car park being built on the edge of the zoo. Couldn't find a restaurant though there were refreshment bars around the park which on a warm day are necessary. I... More

Entrance to the zoo was R 80 and i was the only visitor this early in the morning .Johannesburg zoo has a total area of 55 hectares(140 Acres) and was established in 1904.My main aim was to first visit the "WHITE LION" enclosure as the Johannesburg zoo is one of the few zoo's in the World to have successfully bred... The Johannesburg Zoo is well maintained. Fun to get to see many different species of animals. The enclosures give space and much natural habitat to the animals

After a stressful day at work you can try leave the office early and take a walk in the Joburg zoo not only do you get to see the animals when they are calm but you also don't have to wait or struggle to get a good view cause there are very few people around. The zoo walk is quite... More

The facilities (food stalls and public toilets) were mostly closed the whole day. The two food stalls we did find open were EXTREMELY expensive. Cages were really empty and most of the ones that were not empty were not well maintained. Serious investment is needed to bring the Johannesburg Zoo back to the standard it was before. Sad to see... I took my granddaughter to Johannesburg Zoo there was so much to see. My granddaughter loved it her eyes here everywhere as happy as can be so fascinated in all the animals., especially during their feeding. I couldn't believe it and we thought it was going to be a drag at first. To end out day we would go rowing... More

We went for a family outing to the Joburg Zoo on Sunday. Was lots of fun for the kids, with a really great variety of animals to peak everyone's interest. The exhibits are well maintained and the grounds are well kept. Lots of construction going on, which is not great - but hopefully speaks of potential for future. The maps... More
