I am becoming less and less a fan of zoos, but as they go this one is very good. Large areas and enclosures for most of the animals, and mostly animals indigenous to Africa so they are provided with environments as close as possible to...More

Great layout and very family orientated. Animals are all well looked after and even though animals are not meant to be in cages, these cages are huge and made to be as natural as possible. Keep up the great work Johannesburg Zoo, you guys rock...More

Good zoo, well cared for animals , pleasant surroundings. Close up views of 🦁 lions . And crocodiles. Some funfair rides for little ones. Just very crowded on weekends, so avoid then I’d say.

The zoo is in great shape with a huge variety of animals which each have very informative information boards. New parking garage is a real bonus with plenty of covered parking.

My wife and I live zoos and have been to some of the world's best. Unfortunately I don't consider this one of them. The animals do appear very well looked after and the park gardens are pretty well maintained. The biggest problems was the lack...More

If you like zoos, you'll like this one. I like zoos, I can easily spend hours just staring at animals. If you're like me, you'll like the Joburg zoo too. However, if you dont like walking (the zoo is big!) or if you lost the...More

Hi Ruth Just called to find out for you - there do NOT have the golf cart tours available anymore but do have wheelchairs for hire (R100 per day). Hope this helps.

No, not possible. To interact with baby lions you should go to Lion Park.
