A recent visit to the Joburg Zoo was thoroughly enjoyed by my little daughter as well as the older family.

I've been to many zoos around the world and this was by far the worst. It was literally like stepping into a site ravaged by zombie apocalypse. We were two of about 10 visitors total in the zoo, staff were lounging around, smoking, shouting loudly...More

Great place to get to see animals and the big five. Obviously the game reserves would be a very different experience. But a few hours at the Zoo is a great experience

Jo'burg Zoo was quite a disappointment. In general the place seems very run down. Lawns and buildings badly maintained and in of attention. A lot of empty enclosures - where have the animals gone? Fish, snakes and spiders and monkeys displays were very cool but...More

If you are looking for an interesting day in JHB head to the zoo. We had easy parking at a side entrance. There are some food stalls available as well. The zoo is neat, well maintained and easy to navigate. The animals are all well...More

A really good day out, or at least for a few hours. Go mid morning and chances to see the rhinos, apes, tigers etc is better. Do forget the lessor travelled paths of the honey badger, caracal etc. Regeneration the sunscreen.

Visited with my 17 year old son. Once inside you can see they don't care about the animals. Many on the enclosures were empty or shut and if looking for the animals , the vegetation was so over grown you could not find them. Many...More

At the main entrance there might be cameras but we entered through the back entrance. The security and cashiers there were friendly and profesional.
