The zoo is nice and good for families. Sadly for us it appears all the other animals such as lions and tigers were sleeping when we visited. The zoo could do well to tell customers when it is a good time to visit.

I think our Joburg Zoo is right up there, when it comes to world class Zoos in the world. I suggest locals buy the annual pass, especially with younger children. The restaurant also sells delicious food

Being able to see all the animals i wanted to see was great and some up closer than others. If you have small children you will have to be prepared for a long day of walking. Obviously the size of sime animals require large enclosures...More

Yes they have lots of different animals that actually seem to be taken care of responsibly, but the zoo itself is a great park with lots of little green 'lungs' where you can plonk down with some cool drinks or perhaps a picnic basket and...More

I visited the zoo on Saturday 12 October 2017 after not having been there for years. It was always wonderful, now it is neglected, dirty, drinking taps don't work. Why did they spend so much money on the parking arcade?

It's a nice day out, good walks and of course plenty of animals to watch. In Joburg, you need places to walk and here you can do safely and with much to look at, enjoying the animals, although I do prefer them in the wild.

Needs more support but a great day out. Take your own food as the facility's there are not the best. But in all a great day out with the family.

From a zoo in SA you come to expect a more naturalistic and better taken care of facility. The best thing about it is that if you are staying in the area and have kids then it is a safe few hours of fun for...More

No, not possible. To interact with baby lions you should go to Lion Park.

Hi Gustavo, as other have responded, no you can't but there are other options. Normally in a public zoo, people don't get inside the cages.

At the main entrance there might be cameras but we entered through the back entrance. The security and cashiers there were friendly and profesional.
