One of the favourite of Joburg residents. A venue for the annual Jazz on the Lake and Carols by Candlelight events. A monthly venue for the Artists under the Sun open air art exhibition.

Zoo lake is close to Joburg Zoo, it has a big open grass park with a dam with some ducks, generally homeless people are sleeping on the grass, many times it is very dirty filled with rubble, and not very safe. It is not a place to specifically go to and see for foreign visitors.

A truly lovely open space. You can rent boats on the lake too. We walked from a restaurant in Parkview through Zoo Lake park to the zoo. People kept on telling us that it was a long way but it really wasn't. Note that there aren't any maps in the park so it's a bit tricky working out where you... More

Great picnic location or just for the lovebirds afternoon stroll, or for the health enthusiast the perfect location for jogging, lots of trees and pathways including ponds with ducks that kids tend to love or if you wish to chill at Moyo for a coffee and a treat.

Pleasant park for a relaxing day out. It is pet friendly and my dog loves playing and watching the ducks and geese. Great picnic spot or you can have a meal at Moyo restaurant which has wonderful South African food. There are little row boats for hire at very low prices.

The title says it all. However, if you are not into big crowds you should avoid the place on major public holidays as it gets swamped. That said, this is one of the beauty of the place - it caters to different kinds of people and there is even an exercising area for general public use. A good Joburg park.

I went for a walk in Zoo park and it was great! It is a very calm scene with a lot of beautiful birds, the lake is very pretty. I went for lunch at Moyo in the park, it was an amazing experience. It is a safe place to go early in the day, even if you are alone, just... More
