Two of us decided to do a city tour of Johannesburg on the Hop On Hop Off bus. We chose the Red City Tour. Very hot upstairs, but we were lucky to get under cover at the front of the bus. Tour took about an...More

As we had only one day to discover Johannesburg we opted to let us be driven around by the red bus. It was a very enjoyable experience. We also booked the Soweto option and this allowed us to visit Nelson Mandela's house and the way...More

as an immigrant who lives in Johannesburg for more than 5 years, this trip is a permanent item when we receive visitors from Antwerp Belgium. On average we are pampered about 3 hours with various stories about Johannesburg, these are through by an audio system...More

We arrived in Jo'burg a day before our tour started, so chose to take the city tourist bus to give us an overview of the city. The commentary was excellent- informative and entertaining- and available in 16 languages! We got off the bus twice- at...More

We rode the bus to the Apartheid Museum and had a good time. It was raining the whole time, and the museum closed before the bus had come back...so we opted to hop an Uber. Overall good tour, but there isn't that much to see...More

The hop on bus in JNB, rates poorly compared to Cpt. But not due to the drivers or staff. They were wonderful and very friendly. Jnb doe not have enough stops to warant the ticket price.... We also did not have a working kids channel...More

Such a remarkable perspective on a very interesting city, and one that I thought I knew quite well. I would recommend this to locals and visitors alike. What a great way to experience Joburg and get out and about.

What a great way to see the city. An outstanding tour, very informative and interesting. Plenty to do and see at several hop on hop off stops. Very well worth the time. A must do in Johannesburg.

I'm visiting Johannesburg and Cape Town July 8-15, and still not sure how to pack. I don't think I will be on a safari but we are doing a lot of sightseeing. Articles say wear long sleeves and scarfs, boots etc. I see temps of 60-65 F, as highs. Normally in Southern US, that would be short sleeves and jacket weather but I don't know how South Africa 65 f, feels. I fear packing long sleeves and sweaters that I will get hot. Once we leave the hotel, we are out all day, 3 days in Johannesburg and 3 days in Cape Town. Would short sleeve shirts, with a denim jacket or a cardigan sweater keep me warm? I have running sneakers and skinny jeans as my bass. Or do you really think I need to pack long sleeves/sweaters. I'm bringing a fleece type jacket along with a denim. Will I need much more? IPlease reply soon. I'm so confused and leave in 2 weeks for my trip.

Also, I forgot to say yes, I think your denim and cardigan would be perfect. That's what I packed as well.

hi, we'll be in johannesburg in early july for 2 days and it sounds like the on/off bus was a great way to see the city. did you book it when you arrived or prior? did you feel safe getting off the bus and walking around?? it seems best to see the apartheid museum on your own? any further suggestions are welcomed. thank you! food queen
