Well presented Asian inspired dishes, good service and a nice view from the terrace. Guarded parking available.

Great food, lovely bookstore - perfect for a lazy weekend with friends and family. Service Station serves breakfast & lunch, while Great Eastern serves lunch and dinner.
Art exhibitions upstairs from time to time.

Well hidden and out of the way enough to be a lovely stop on the way to somewhere busier in Melville, Greenside, Westdene, Parktown and other nearby haunts of the trendy and infuriating.

I live in Melville so I have to love this place, but really, the food is great. Saturday Mornings and Sunday Mornings are my best, it does get rather busy so get there early.

The food is fresh and tasty, the service is excellent as well. Parking is a bit of a problem, but you will figure it out. There are some awesome novelty shops there as well, great for a bit of shopping. Back to the food. scrumptious eggs and the croissants and simply devine.

Definitely on my Recommended list

Mellville's best loved secret. If nothing else head to Bamboo for a lunch time treat. Love their food. The space is dynamic with retail space for earthy fashion, corporate launches, flea markets fares and more. A central space to meet your client or a quick coffee. Great for a mom and son/daughter catch up. Its on the corner and the architecture will wow xx

Set in the North East of the suburb of Melville, one will the Bamboo Centre. It offers a delightful, independent book shop, “Love Books”, a good restaurant, etc and a lovely fresh produce and food market on Saturday mornings. The gallery on the top floor offers pop-up art exhibitions. Safe parking.

Went to Bamboo restaurant for dinner with friends and was very disappointed with service and the food, the Vietnamese menu is a little limited, mostly vegetarian which is fine but then getting cold noodles wasn't ok,when I asked the waitress about it I was told that the noodles should be served warm, well,my noodles weren't even luke warm nor did it mention anywhere on the menu that the food would be cold,I have travelled around in Asia including Vietnam and have never come across a cold noodle dish...very weird....The food is also very pricey for what you get,my vegetarian noodle dish was R120 and my friends chicken wings R140 ...vastly overpriced
Service also disappointing,we will definitely not be back and I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to my friends, instead go to the Service Station which is located below Bamboo Restaurant, they serve delicious and always tasty food, sadly they are only open for lunch.

The small resturant has interesting food, a few nice shops with good value items, it's in the Melville area so you can walk to it, it closes quite early times from 8 30 / 19 00, they do have art shows there and a small market all day saturdays.

The service station restaurant at Bamboo is by far the best veggie selection for lunch. They do all the meats as well, but definitely specialise in the veggies. From the most amazing blue cheese and pear salad, couscous and roasted veg salad to the quiches and pies ... definitely a must!

Bamboo is a great retail space. Perfect if you want a more relaxed shopping experience. The restaurant, Service Station, has fantastic ambience, and yummy food. And do I love the bookstore or the toy store more? Hard to choose.
I f I 'm feeling stressed, I go to Bamboo for a little bit of soft retail therapy. Very very soothing.
