The museum is kept in absolute pristine condition. There are many displays which are unique in the world, having the only example of a twin seat ME 262 in the world as well as many others. The displays are changed regularly and therefore repeat visits are only a pleasure. Among the current displays are a ME 109, FW 90, Mosquito,... More

My grandfather first took me to the "War Museum" when I was about 10-12 years old. That was back in 1952, bless his soul. It has fascinated me ever since, and despite a gap of some fifty years I was delighted to find that it had not lost any of its magic and fascination. In fact it has grown to... More

I visited the Military Museum as part of the Red Top Bus tour of the city. I particularly enjoy military history and I was hoping to learn a little more about the military history on the African continent. While I learned some new things and gained new perspectives, I was hoping for some more information on the Boer Wars. However,... More

This museum had quiet a collection of weapons and artifacts. I did not enjoy the setup, I found it to be rather uninformative. My first impression was that they plonked all this old memorabilia amongst 3-4 rooms and inserted a plaque with about 900 words in some cases. There was some thought into the display of the planes which was... More

If you have any interest in military history and like the odd quirky exhibit this is the place for you. They have a varied collection well set out and accessible both physically and in terms of information.

We visited here because the weather was awful and it was a close option to the hotel. Pleasant enough time to spend a couple of hours. Lots to see and very informative. Good for young children

It is a great physical record of south african military. there are examples of guns and tanks from many wars and eras. there are even a few the kids can climb on. There is also more detailed information on uniforms and differnt groups.

The museum has an amazing collection of weapons, artillery, uniforms and medals from all of the wars that South African troops have been involved in with heaps of information on each of the exhibits. There does not appear to be any particular order of the exhibits which is a bit unfortunate but this must be one of the best collections... More

This is the place to take your children and grand children to. Has a vast number of exhibits ranging from small arms development to the famed G5 cannon.
