An extensive green lung in the city where many people walk their dogs, take a run (5km) or mountain bike. Trees to sit under in the summer and picnic with open areas to kick a ball with the little ones. The formal gardens are definitely...More

A nice spot to walk dogs and escape the hustle and bustle of the city. It’s quite big and will work just fine for jogs too.

Usually come here after spending my day at the Linden market. So tranquil. Full of birds and roses. Though most roses were without flowers, it is still the best place to come for a picnic and wind your mind from the city buzz.

This free entrance is more of a park than a botanical garden. It is safe, neat and clean, with loads of water features, which makes it perfect for a great outdoorsy walk. There are a lot of water birds, so folks are encouraged to keep...More

Lovely park for the day out with my fur baby. Beautiful gardens and great views while walking or relaxing on the bench. Some people ignore the signboards forbidding the walking of dogs not on leads, these dogs intimidate other dogs. Dog owners should also pick...More

The park is not very well maintained, but at least one feels safe and can walk your dog or ride your bike in a big area that does not feel like being in the city. There is a decent play area for children with trampolines...More

The Johannesburg Botanical Gardens, also locally referred to as Emerentia Dam, is a safe place to walk with your family and dogs (without leashes) during day time. You can easily walk a round trip of 5 km and enjoy the beautiful nature in the middle...More

Sadly the reality of the park is not anything like the pictures on the website. Poorly kept and uninviting. The Rose garden was very lacking. One wonders if there is no budget to maintain luscious gardens. Very disappointed. More can be done.

It was just okay. I wasn’t impressed at all, however, there is a great dog park near by and the botanical garden park is a great place to go walking.
