Read about this place and the fact that the first Sunday of the month can be a little more active. We had a great time here seeing a lot of locally made artisan pieces. Also a great wine and food scene. Highly recommend taking an hour and a half or more of your day to visit this place.

First Sundays are incredible! Great food, music, open studios, and shopping. They offer free tours to get to know the area. I was so impressed by the Pulp book studio - the artist took the time to share his knowledge of book arts in Joburg.

This is a pretty wonderful place off the radar in Johannesburg. It is a maze of artist Studios and shops surrounded by organic flower and vegetable gardens.
You can visit with the artists, purchase their work or find beautiful crafts in some of the shops. There is also a gin distillery, though it was closed during our visit, and a nice coffee shop for some tea and cookies. You pass through a pretty rough neighbourhood to get there, but there is a guard at the gate. It felt so much more authentic than the Africa souvenir stores.

Such a gem just east of Joburg's CBD. Vic Yards features a growing list of artist studios and handcraft shops - and a beautiful area lined with veggie gardens. It's always worth a visit! The open markets every first Sunday are stunning and vibey, but the off-market days are also nice because one gets to speak with the artists, and people working and keeping this beautiful place alive. Thank you!

Such an inspiring venue, especially on a first Sunday. We did a tour with Angela which gave us so much insight into the brilliant work being done here. Safe parking, great food and a real party vibe. Will be back.

A great way to spend a Sunday! Beautiful space and wonderful art / crafts from local artisans. They've done a great job redeveloping and repurposing a former industrial space into a social enterprise to train and incubate local entrepreneurs. And they offer free guides to tell you about the history and the local makers!
