Humewood Golf Course promotes itself as the only true golf links in South Africa and is a challenge for even an avid, low-handicap golf. Port Elizabeth is known as the "windy city" which is certainly apt for this property. The day that I played the wind was howling. I had arranged a foursome several months in advance from the United States. The director of course operations coordinated my tee-time, golf club rentals, and carts so I did not have to worry about anything other than my swing prior to arrival. I am just getting back into golf, and have played numerous links courses in Scotland and England, and found Humewood Golf Course to be a challenging layout. After our round, we all enjoyed a pint in the members lounge. I recommend the links to any level golf enthusiast when traveling to the Port Elizabeth area. You will enjoy the challenge.

Had the chance to play the front 9 mid April and really enjoyed the experience. Unfortunately we played to late in the day so the winds were ripping and the rain came in for the back nine so we aborted at the halfway. Clubhouse is lovely, staff very friendly and accommodating - definitely a special course and we look forward to playing again early in the day before the wind picks up. Lovely vistas and warm hospitality. Thanks to the whole team!

Well! who am I to think that I could even humbly comment on this golf course given the Late Great Bobby Locke said it all. After four and a half years I had the absolute privilege of playing the course 3 times in ten days. This is how golf was meant to be played as a pro or as a recreational golfer which I am. Slightly windy but such a joyous occasion to watch your ball sail down the middle of the fairway and settle amongst the fairway mounds blocking your view of the spectacular immaculate greens. If you can two putt any green we'll done. The par 3's are killers but such a wonderful test of your ability and temperament. A pull or slice into the rough on any hole warrants a walk bye. Don't bother looking because you won't find your ball. (good idea you take a spotter with you.) I my humble opinion Humewood is the best golf course in SA. You can have all your estate and artificially created golf courses. This is THE ONE.

Good Course that's is run by the rich and make out to be there course. First time player there with friends the sops were out an about , just staring playing a 4 ball a 1 club member complaint to the marshals that we are playing slow , you can even enter the club house you are shown away to a kiosk far away to go buy poor expensive food like the outcast you are. It seems if your not a club member you are not welcome and will be treated poorly, i will never again visit Humewood EVER!!!!

If you are up for a challenge, this is a great way to do. Fantastic links course, which we played with 36 km wind. Not for the faint hearted. Old clubhouse, but very welcoming staf, both in the pro shop as well as in the restaurant. Do not expect anything fancy, though they are slowly but surely upgrading. Hoever, you can have good foor, a drink and buy whatever you need in the pro shop. Not your typical 9 out 9 in links, I would say luckily, but the course, and thats the most important, was is a magnificent condition. Great fairways, difficult pot bunkers, and fast greens. With this wind, again a real challenge, happy with my 84. Next time when we are in the neighborhood, Humewood will be on our list again.

A great course, very playable with moderate wind; if its starts blowing picture yourself in the Open Championship and battle along .....a great experience in any case with a charming club house and wonderful staff

If you are a golfer like me then this is a "must play" as it is the only true links course in SA. I had been told of the course from a fellow golfer who I just happened to meet in the airport at Johannesburg and who found out I was from Scotland. It was not on my radar but glad I did, it was a real challenge. Very helpful staff in the pro-shop and the course did not let me down. Some wonderful holes and with a very blustery wind, it felt like any links in Scotland, except it was about 20+ degrees warmer.

Had the Pleasure of playing here a couple of weeks ago. It was the first time I've played Humewood and its been a lot longer since I've played on a links course of this quality, It was in truly magnificent conditions. The fairways and bunkers were in top nick and the greens were true and quick. It was a pleasure to walk around the grand old lady. If you like your golf and like a challenge then give this course a try. The Club house and pro shop had great service and everyone was really friendly. The best think about this was the price being Australian was a joy to visit recommend to one and all
