After stopping at the Old timber shed we decided to stop at this beacon as well. Unfortunately it's not well looked after and don't think this piece of history will be there for long.

On our walks looking for nice views, we came across this Beacon which has an inscriptions giving the story of the town. The beacon was erected by Joachim Baron van Plettenberg of the Dutch East Indies and Gov of Cape of Good Hope. 5 Nov 1778. From that day on the ex- Bahia Formosa took on the name of Plettenberg and hence belonged to the Dutch East India Company!

Found this monument, and it gives you the history of the the name of Plett. There is a viewing platform next to it that provides a great view. There are also a couple of benches to sit on. Not much else to say.
