For many years I have been visiting Plettenberg Bay with my husband to see my beloved sister. Every Sunday when I am in Plett (as it is known) I go to the services at St Peters Anglican Church, a place especially precious to me because it is in this beautiful ground looking out over the sea that my brother-in-law is buried. Beautiful inside and out! The Holy Spirit is palpably present. Reminiscent of so many charming stone churches built in this style by the Anglican missionaries in many places in South Africa centuries ago.

Climbing up the hill from the Plett Hotel, decided to take a closer look. In essence, a quaint little English country church, in South Africa. Not able to see inside but interesting

A short walk from the Whale Tail lookout spot lies this small, but very well kept, Anglican church. The entrance is free although donations are welcomed. The gardens are really well maintained and from the road outside you get a majestic view over Plettenberg Bay. Well worth a stop if in the area!

Well worth a visit, especially to attend a service.
Historically an essential component of "Plet" in the early days, having played an important role in the development of the local community.
Plenty of parking, and an interesting churchyard.

A place to pray and a place to meditate - a wonderful church, well preserved, going back centuries. A holy shrine that exudes human kindness and healing - a place to return to again & again.

Met Vicar Rudi who is a delightful man and so nice to see a full congregation on a Sunday compared to sparse C of E ones back in our native U.K.
The church is well worth popping into for some peace and tranquility and it's set in old Plett with sea views!

We stumbled upon this little gem of history by chance. We took the time to visit and admire the stonework which has stood for 140 years. Peaceful and serene.

It may seem odd to review a place of worship but St Peter’s is also a site of genuine historic interest.
For it is one of the few original, and still functioning buildings, from the days when Plettenburg was just a whaling station.
Perfectly positioned above central beach and near the renovated Old Rectory and storage buildings, it conjures up a remote past which is reinforced by the family names found in the graveyard.
