We stopped in for breakfast while booking for a golf game. Well after placing our order, other parties, who had arrived after us, received and finished their meal and our order had not yet arrived. The waitress being side tracked by bar duties. After almost an hour our meal finally arrived. Already frustrated…… I had specifically asked for a hard egg, mine was served very soft, how do you mess that up! On query, we were told the delay was due to us ordering burgers! Yes, they did offer to take the meal back and cook the egg a little more…. we had waited so long, were late for another appointment so we told them no. THEN they had the cheek to charge for the egg. Oh yes, and R40 for a cappuccino! Yes, we did ensure it was a double shot… that shouldn’t be extra, that should be normal, the days of single-shot coffees are long gone. Very disappointing.

Scenic course with a variety of challenges. No need to be in fear of it even if you are modest handicapper. Some longish holes but no problems as long as you can hit straight. Kept in fine condition, well marshalled. Compulsory 10 min refreshment stop halfway which is customary in these parts. Excellent clubhouse with balcony overlooking the 18th green. One or two ‘hell, how do I get out of this?’ type bunkers but most are surmountable. Teamed in to groups of 4 when busy so excellent for sole players or groups of 2 or 3.

Great location and venue for a round of golf. Great views and well placed for walks and the like.
Just think twice about your choice of apartment and if you can avoid paying up front then do so. We stayed in an ok apartment but the family we travelled with stayed in Soulenti on Goose (sounds like the one mentioned in the below reviews) as it is described perfectly below.
I thought the staff at the bar and golf course were excellent.

In December 2013 I was in Plettenberg Bay on holiday. Being an avid golfer and passionate about the game asked my friends son, who was also there with his family to book us a game at Goose Valley. He is a student and was emailed that they could not accommodate us as they were fully booked. At Plettenberg Bay Country Club I voiced my disappointment to our playing partners and they were clearly shocked, they informed me that was not true. I then phoned them myself and to my surprise got a time no problem, in fact chose the time I preferred. We arrived for our 6.30am T Off and were told we were playing with 2 other people, this was not a problem until we got to the T Box. There stood a father with his 6 or 7 year old daughter, who could not hit a ball, kept getting in the way, driving the golf cart all over the fairways in front of us, putting whilst we were putting it was a nightmare. At half way I went to complain and was told it was a family course, my response was if they want it to become a family course don't charge people R370 to play as this was unprofessional for a rated golf course and rather make it into a mashy course and charge everyone R100. The one young man in the Pro Shop was particularly rude trying to cover his back and was very arrogant. I was under the impression you had to have an official handicap to play on so called upmarket courses.
Beware of booking a game of golf at this course, it was not worth the agro!!!!!!!!!!!

Played here recently and wasn't disappointed. Pro shop and Club in general very friendly and the course was very good. Recommended

We enjoyed our round of golf at Goose Valley. We were fortunate to play with a lovely couple who visit there every year. The course is well maintained and it was lovely to be able to walk around it without having to take a buggy.

This course is well kept and beautiful in its natural surroundings. The golf cart and other facilities were well looked after and things seemed to operate with efficiency and courtesy. Other players on the course were very polite with great respect for the rules and game of golf itself. I have seen more dramatically beautiful clubs and courses, but this was a nice day out.

Played several games there this week as a resident. Besides non-working cart gps, and shoddy clubhouse service once or twice, I Had a 'Marshall' argue about a single set of new clubs between two players on the 7th, fair enough, fixed it on the 9th - unaware this was a problem as it's never ever been an issue before when quiet. What we all got was More psychotic bullying than anything else according to other players. But intentionally interrupting live play and holding back our game on a dead quiet day is not etiquette. Couldn't have been handled worse, and an uninterested Hutchinson and co. seem incapable of seeing their clients point of view! Disgraceful experience.

Great staff, excellent course in superb condition, half-way house lunch great value and very good quantity and quality. Mondays is a cheap day for pensioners!!!!!!

Easy to book and friendly staff, especially in the pro shop and starter. Well-tended greens and fairways. Good test of golf and some interesting holes. Very scenic.
