The staff is amazing, the marine fish section is beautiful but has deteriorated over the years compared to when I was a child! But still an amazing place with cute penguins and intelligent seals, had a blast with the fam. Got to feed the penguins aswells

A small aquarium with plenty of fish to see in the tanks, along with sea lions and penguins. It's just a fun place to learn the names of a few fish and watch the sea lions at play. It's small and a bit tired, but very affordable for the family.

What a disappointment this was. They dont take cards for payment firstly. The place had wet towels everywhere as I assume the tanks are all leaking. There are few tanks, not a lot of fish. The few tanks that are there, the windows are dirty, ground on them and floors wet with one fan for circulation. The seals and penguins outside are cute... Would not go back here.

Although very small it was interesting but I would go at feeding time and the guys gave some really good insights into the species. Beautiful setting with great views. Inexpensive and well worth it!

The place is in beach front, with a niece view. The penguins were interesting, especially to see them closely

East London aquarium may be underwhelming if you compare it with big city aquariums like Cape Town or Durban. But, I think that the team do a great job with minimal funds, and there's always something interesting to see in the indoor exhibits, which are well-kept and cared for. I have particularly enjoyed watching the baby turtles grow from the size of a palm to nearly a foot in width. My 18-month-old daughter, Maia, loves the aquarium and is completely enchanted every time we go. The highlight for both of us is the outdoor section with the fur seal and African penguin displays; and Dylan, who has to be one of the most enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and friendly staff members I have ever met, in any zoo or aquarium around the world. He always pays special attention to my daughter, even letting her pet a penguin whose name also happens to be Maia. His love for his job is evident, and infectious – people like Dylan are what this world needs if attitudes towards marine conservation are going to change. He is a real credit to East London Aquarium, and the reason we will keep coming back time and time again.

This acquarium runs on minimum money so you can see it needs an upgrade badly. It is however interesting for small children and they remain fascinated. The penguins are a fast favorite.

We expected only little, but what we saw was much less than we hoped for. We are no experts in keeping fish, but the small tanks seem either over-crowded with fish or they are completely empty. This aquarium is in a very poor state... which is sad because East London needs more nice attractions and a small, but joyful aquarium would be great to have.

Small aquarium but packed with many tanks with a wide variety of fish from South African waters.
Feeding times of seals, sharks, penguins and pelicans are interesting for all. Great for a few hours entertainment.
