We are the oldest operating riding establishment in Cave Creek . The Motley family started MTM Ranch in 1989. We have provided wonderful rides for over 25 years in the Desert Mountains North of Cave Creek. We give guided tours with educated and...more
We had a great day riding with Patti and her wrangler Heidi. We met at the Derrick Trail Head and rode to Horton Springs. Very beautiful scenery. Patti kept us entertained and provided information about the local wildlife and area.
Lots of fun and highly...More
Beautiful scenery. Great horses - they actually want to get on the trail, not like most places where the horses just want to make a bee line back to the stable. Book an evening ride and go to the bull riding in cave creek afterward....More
This was a return trip for my husband and I and we brought along my sister this time. Paul (once again!) an excellent guide. We had some rough terrain so please note the Bronco Trailhead is not for the faint hearted but we certainly enjoyed...More
Went twice, once with Carl, once with Paul. Two very nice guides with knowledge of the history of the area. Road two different trails, both in the hills, but one more rocky, hilly & spectacular than the other, but probably not for a nervous beginner....More
The Jewel of the Creek Trail is a short but very cool hike (maybe 2.25 mile loop). You park in a small parking area which is before you get to the Spur Cross Conservation area. There is a cave where once inside, you can stand...More
Last year we did the Blue Was ride with Paul and had a wonderful time. We came back this year and did the 2-hour sunset ride which took us through a park with stunning scenery and a multitude of saguaros and blooming cacti. Our guide,...More
I had a wonderful day riding with Carl at the MTM ranch. I'm not an experienced rider and Carl was very helpful and experienced. I would recommend this to anyone looking to spend a few hours or more riding while in the Cave Creek or...More
My friend and I found this gem north of Phoenix for horseback riding. Owned and run by Patti, it is a special place. We went on a two hour ride up and around the foothills behind her place. It is a conservation area, so it...More
We love going on (slow) horseback rides. This 3 hour sunset tour was great. Get to feel like John Wayne only 30 mins north of Scottsdale in the wilderness. This was a perfect afternoon away from the city. Take water and sunscreen and just enjoy...More

Hello, I am only the reviewer of MTM. I would advise that you check with the ranch as it is very hot here in Summer (40 degrees celsius) and there may be restrictions on the type of rides on offer. Hope this helps.

Hello Ms. Irish,
We do offer many more advanced rides. Our ranch model is longer rides with less people. We are able to let advanced riders do a little more than a walk on the 3 hour + rides. We are able to ride to the level of the rider we. If you are coming with another person with less riding experience our policy dictates that we ride to their ability. If they are a beginner we ride to that level. If you choose to book a private ride (in which you pay for the 2 person minimum) and you are truly experienced we have the most beautiful herd of Registered Quarter, Paint and Arabian Geldings that are trained for Reining and Roping. These are the finest in the business. The pace of the ride is set by the Wranglers opinion. He will set the speed that is safest for you. Understand many people think they are advanced riders and perhaps in an arena somewhere that could be partially true but in the open space horses are different than the arena environment. Please visit our facebook page for photos and call for a reservations.
