The best mountain view in the entire UAE. Nothing more to enjoy if you are going with family but the view is worth to go. All type of cars can reach in the top of the mountain but check your tyres and breaks before you go. I went there to see the sunrise but the sun is covered with fog. The officials with ask for your Emirates ID once you are in the middle of your way. Only one person from a car need to provide the Emirates ID and you can collect it when you come down.

A new black top road after the primary school in the village of Tawian, somewhere midway between RAK to Dibba on the E87 motorway takes you to Jabal Yibir. Unfortunately, you will be stopped at a military outpost and turned back although the mountain drive is up to 1350 meters above sea level. Still, recommended to take this short drive even if up to the military check post.

Travelled twice in this year. First in March and then in August. The rating is based on March experience. We were able to reach the top though finding out the route took almost an hour. The drive is most difficult compare to drive to Jebel Hafeeth and Jebel Jais. Second time in August, we found the route is restricted with Army check. On our first visit itself, I anticipated that it will be restricted after some time because on the top of the mountain, there is an army camp only. The border is nearby. Those who missed the route, missed an exciting hairpin rich drive.

This is one of the best; if not the best mountain drive in UAE. Very steep climb and narrow hairpins!!! Dangerous but Adventurous. Won’t recommend to drive along with family though. Once you reached top of the mountain you are blessed with astonishing sceneries. Every angle will give you a perfect picture even for amateurs. You can see Dubai skyline along with setting sun and the marvelous Burj Khalifa at one view point. Amazing !!!
You are definitely gonna like this place.
There is a military check post on the way to top. They will check each passenger IDs and mulkiya. Checks vehicle as well. Make sure not to carry anything banned.
Roads are damaged at the sides due to water from heavy rains. So if you are going post a rainfall be extremely careful as roads are narrow and a steep climb with hairpins.
To reach there take exit 119 from SMBZR.

Dont waste your time going unless you are local or travelling with one. Seems this venue is off limits to visitors. Long drive from Dubai wasted.

10 March. Planned the Yibir hike for but got stopped by a military officer at a small outpost halfway up asking for Emirates ID's and saying no more expats only locals allowed. Very disappointed!!

Travel from Sharjah was nice, with rock mountains along the view...very picturesque. Our climb up started from Al Tawyeen, Fujairah..and driving was fun since it will give you sharp bends and points where you won't see the road from your windshield since your going up and next is a steep downhill. Some bends have mirrors so you can slow down and see the opposite traffic....be careful since we-drivers will be tempted to speed up! Most of the time, the road will be empty for you and the gas pedal gets pushed a little more. Sadly I was stopped after 9KM by military personnel saying we cannot go up...and have to comply.
If you use tripod when taking pictures, make sure to use a sandbag or equivalent especially on peaks/open areas---it will save your DSLR!
Take a different road getting out of Al Tawyeen, it will be rewarding.

jebel Yibir is teh highest named point in UAE. Despite that, it is a simpler hike than many other jebels in vicinity. the whole hike is 4-5 hours and of easy to moderate level. One can start in the morning or camp at the foothill the night before. It is a beautiful point for sunrise as you can go very high up with the SUV's. the hike involves going down from a hill, then steep hike up to a false summit and then less steeper hike to main summit going around. As such one can hike as they please as no trails are needed.
