Interesting story behind St. Theresa of Avila. This convent was built around her home and has many vignettes depicting her early life in Avila. Also a bronze sculpture of her in front of the convent where some Catholics come to offer prayers.

The convent museum was excellent. All exhibits are in Spanish but ask for an English translation guide for the areas. You still can’t read all individual exhibits though. Closes at 2pm. €2 pp to get in.

Santa Teresa is key to the history of Avila so you should make a point of seeing where she spent years praying.
Very beautiful with plenty of interesting artefacts and history. Great gift shop too with beautiful books.
This site and square was one of the major attractions in Avila. The adjioning shop and museum was well worthwhile visiting. Interesting history and free entry into the convent/church but must be dressed appropriately.
