My friend and I went to Chinatown just to take a peek. We have to agree with other reviews. It’s a gate and a few scattered shops not all owned or operated by Chinese people. Worth a peek but don’t have high expectations

Only one typical China Town main gate with Chinese characters but nothing else. There are several shops with similar characters. This is not China Town!

I walked up and down the street in downtown San Jose and notice a Chinese gate, I walked down and find a nice little church in the park. As far as I concern, there are not much to sea that show characteristics of "Chinatown". There...More

The arch, the cement lions, one window with hanging Peking ducks, one shop with Chinese bric-a-brac. And the restaurant Tin Jo. That’s all more or less Asian that I counted in San Jose’s Chinatown. Ah, yes, Plaza de las Artes and a nice Catholic church...More

I mean does putting up a Chinese Arch give license to call a neighbourhood Chinatown? I counted one Asian business within eyesight.

Not your typical Chinatown, except for the welcoming arch. A few souvenir shops, one or two Chinese businesses and restaurants.

An arch with Barrio Chino written on it shows you are entering the Chinese neighborhood. If you proceed in the direction of Plaza Viquez you will be in a pedestrian zone most of the time. On both sides of the street are Chinese shops and...More

If you happen to be walking by, it couldn't hurt to walk down the street, but it's not worth going out of your way. There's not much Chinese about this chinatown. We were there in Dec 2016. Not much was open due to the holidays,...More

I entered Chinatown from the opposite end to the main arch, not realising until I had walked down the street that it was indeed Chinatown.
