A very lively half hour. Great atmosphere and a huge range of stuff. Plus the various food outlets deliver some great local lunches. Just look at what everyone else is having and point graciously!

If you have time to kill in San Jose this is worth a visit. It’s a busy market that seems to sell everything from food to cook ware, pet supplies to cigars. I find these places fun to walk around and explore. I would use...More

Once you walk in the vendors are a little pushy with the sales but overall nice experience. Nice local area with souvenirs.

This place can be overwhelming if you don't speak good enough Spanish or get lost easily. If that sounds like you, then I suggest going in a tour, using a travel buddy app, and finding a local to show you around. My spanish is so-so,...More

This historic market is filled with fresh, organic Costa Rican fruit, vegetables, spices, and their legendary coffee grown in volcanic soil. There are many small cafes in the market that specialize in and serve this local harvest as well.

This place is not for those who are claustrophobic. The aisles are narrow and crowded with all kinds of items from souvenirs to clothing to meat. You can even sit and have a meal at one of the many eating places. We got some great...More

This is a huge market with many vendors selling the same stuff. Was hoping to see local artisan goods but didnt find any. Mostly commercial products. Smell was pretty bad as they have raw chicken and other meat vendors in there also. Not worth the...More

If you have been to markets in other parts of the world, this one is nothing special. Vendors will try to get your attention and may follow you around for a little bit with their menus/wares. There is, however, a wonderful ice cream shop here...More
