Include this on your day's itinerary walking around Old San Juan. Lovely little plaza to see and take rest in the shade as well.

I'm sorry but there really isn't anything special here. If you want to visit it just to tick it off the list of places to say you've seen then go but otherwise relaxing around the pool for the morning will be more fun. The area is surrounded by cheap 3rd rate shops and beggars on virtually every corner. The only thing that was enjoyable was the coffee and carrot cake we had outside the front of the gran hotel opposite the national theatre.

This is the main square of San José with some huge shops and the national theatre. There is not that much to do, but it is good to see and I recommend a tour in the theatre.

Lot of interesting items in the area. Just off Ave Central (0). Nicely crafted and surrounded by some of the cultural buildings.

Main plaza in the center of Downtown San Jose where the National Theater (Teatro Nacional) and Pre-Colombian Gold Museum are located. The plaza itself isn't remarkable.

What do I like most in visiting the attractions in Downtown San Jose? Most attractions are located near each other, along Avenida 2 and related streets. This attraction is not an exception, it is located near the National Theater, Museums, Pedestrian Mall, etc.

There is no need to drive, just walk around and enjoy the area. It feminded me of my hometown Washington, DC where most attractions are cloistered around each other. Enjoy your visit

The plaza itself is worth a visit, but do be sure to also walk down the pedestrian walkway. As you continue walking, you can find some beautiful historic buildings (turn right down another pedestrian only walkway after leaving Palza de Cultura). There are a number of small cafés and eateries to try all around the area. Do not go at night. By day, just be cautious as you would in any large city.

Nothing especial. Get there, take a picture and keep going. The plaza is not pretty. Go to the cathedral and try to get some pictures inside (do not pay for a tour, it's not worthy!)

It was a nice center area that I’m sure is great for festival, bands, etc. There was nothing going on when we were here. Tons of pigeons!

If you are a regular tourist you might be very board here, but if you are a photographer there is a ton of street life to capture. Between the architecture of the buildings, local vendors / street performers, and crazy pigeons a photographer can spend several hours alone taking photos in this area.
