The Gold Museum is a great stop in San Jose and incredibly unique in its location. My understanding is that it not only serves as a museum but also the Central Bank of Costa Rica. I would advise not taking videos as you'll be asked...More
This museum is located primarily underground. It has a plaza overhead that is full of people and playing children. The museum is quite educational when it comes to the history of Costa Rican trade and currency. It is primarily arranged in a chronological order that...More

I rented a car when we were in San Jose...but Uber is perfect. There are many parking lots around the museum. In fact there is a very close one so that you just have to walk 100m and your there ...everywhere. Very safe walking around the area. and the cool thing is that all the main museums are close by. I bought all the tickets at once and I got discounts. I would also recommend eating at the snack bar inside the Jade Museum.
