We didn't plan any excursions in Limon so we just walked a little bit around town, not much to see but we saw the park and decided to check it out. It is located at the end of town near the ocean. The trees are...More

Just outside the cruise port, Vargas Park has many high trees, the dense leaves blocked sunbeam, forming a cool micro environment. You can watch sloths playing on the trees or take a relaxing walk. This park is also the meeting point for a free walking...More

We left our cruise ship to walk in the downtown area of Limon. Like the rest of the area Vargas Park was run-down and you had had a constant concern for your safety. Not even sure why the cruise ship would stop here other than...More

At one time this must have been a pretty little park but not now. Littered. Run down. Trees need LO)TS of attention. Broken glass everywhere. NOT a good place for children. If "local culture" includes drunks and homeless, then this fits the bill.

Vargas Park is the only place we found in Puerto Limon within walking distance of shipyard where the cruise ship docked that was worth seeing.

They are at present doing this park up, quite slowly. You can see Sloth's and varieties of bird life here, the Sloth's are a bit difficult to spot on your own but you will see kids around asking for a dollar to show you where...More

We were on a Cruise April 2016 and decided to venture out to the park... a small rain forest... so much potential to be a clean place to visit. It appears that they are trying to upgrade the sidewalks but looks like they ran out...More
