We booked the snorkeling and hiking tour as part of a tailor made holiday. In the event, the sea was stormy so snorkeling could not happen. Cahuita tours contacted our local agent the day before with the option of just doing the hike with a partial refund or changing to the Bri Bri tour at no extra cost. We chose the hike and we were picked up on time, had a great guide and saw loads of sloths, monkeys, lizards and other wildlife. Fruit snack and then lunch at a local restaurant. All good

We did the Indigenous Tour Kekoldi & Bri Bri Reserve and had a great day! Our guide was friendly and entertaining. We loved seeing and tasting how chocolate was traditionally made, swimming in a waterfall, and seeing the iguanas. The transportation was comfortable. We’re glad we wore our bathing suits under our clothes. There wasn’t really anywhere to change.

I took the snorkelling tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were professional, everything was right on time, they showed great safety consciousness, and didn't waste any of our time. The after-actively lunch at a local restaurant (included in the price) was superb. Jose, who was our guide and dive master, is an intelligent, friendly, and diligent tourist operator. He worked very hard to find and show us marine animals of interest, while not in any way interfering with what people wanted to do -- allowed everyone the freedom to do their own thing -- but kept an eye out to make sure no one went missing. Definitely a master guide with years of experience and a winning personality. A wonderful experience, not so much for the snorkelling (there's better elsewhere in the world and even in Costa Rica, for example Cano Island on the Pacific side), but because of the energy, friendliness and professionalism of Jose.

We went for the snorkelling and hiking tour with Rodolfo and this was definitely one of the best excursion we did in Costa Rica. We were a small group of 4 - this was very pleasant. Rodolfo was very kind and funny and took the time to explain us a lot about the wildlife in Cahuita which is such a beautiful national park! We saw all kind of animals, fishes and plants, and really enjoyed our day. We ended up with a nice lunch, local flavours (rice and beans, veggies, fish or chicken). They also arranged our transportation from and back to Puerto Viejo where we were staying.

Chocolate tour, snorkeling and hiking were excellent! But...

Tour guides Alex (snorkeling & hiking), and Antonio (Chocolate tour) were super polite and willing to show you everything, explain and give as much information! We were very satisfied with the tour itself and with our guides! Good job guys:)

Beside these tours we also booked a transportation to Bocas del Toro with this company. We hade a driver named Alex, and we really didn’t like his service.
All the time we had feeling like he is boring cause he has to give us some basic and important information, not to mention if you ask him to repeat one more time, he starts scrolling his eyes, and it was not nice feeling experiencing that. Also, he didn’t have change to give us, so he blamed us how didn’t bring exact amount of money. All of this would be okay just if he was a bit polite.

What was in the tour description was not delivered so we felt we missed out on experiences and information that should have been provided, based on tour description. Also felt that the Indigenous part was exploitative of the BriBri culture and people. We didn’t learn about the medicinal properties of the plants or anything about the BriBri culture itself. The cocoa demonstration was good and the cocoa was tasty. Our guide told us (on 3 separate occasions) that we’d have a stop where we could buy jewelry and other gifts and crafts made by the BriBri people (he told us not to buy anything in the BriBri village itself as he was taking us to a different spot with more options). This never happened so we missed out on gifts we were really looking forward to buying for friends back home, as well as giving back to the BriBri community. The waterfall stop was also disappointing. Our guide said coconut water with rum was included in our tour, but after we drank it, he said we had to pay $2 a person. It’s not a lot, but I would have liked to have the option of paying extra or not before I had the drink. Not very transparent there. The iguana reserve was also very disappointing. We were supposed to learn about the iguanas and why this particular type was at risk, but there was no one at the reserve so we just took some photos of iguanas nearby and left. Transportation was also an issue. The last stop was at a restaurant which served very nice Caribbean food but after we finished eating, our driver and tour guide left us and wouldn’t give us a ride back to our hotel so we had to wait for the next group to come come from their tour (which was late), let them eat and then we were driven back to our hotel. We had to wait an hour an a half longer which isn’t a super long time but it’s a real piss off when you pay these companies good money for this kind of service - and we had evening plans that we had to then change.

We used this company twice and whilst the tours themselves were good the organisation is poor. They were late arriving to pick us up one day, and then we had to hang around their office waiting for others to be picked up. It took us over an hour before we even set off. The same happened the next day - we were waiting for other guests to arrive before starting our walk. Those other guests did say their transport was 30 minutes late
picking them up. I understand it was the boss who went to pick them up and he controls the tickets and his own timings. It did mean we started walking at 10.30 on a hot day. It would be better to start much earlier. It was suggested we donate ‘an entrance fee’ to the park as they don’t charge. I thought that was a bit much as we had paid the tour company for that sort of thing and were advised park fees were included. The guide to the village was good and helped translate things for us. The guide on the walk was informative but not super helpful - he didn’t set up his telescope v much and not did he offer to take photos through it

I booked a snorkeling + hiking tour with them. The day of the tour they had to cancel the snorkeling because of the weather conditions but they offered me another tour (iguana farm, Bri Bri reserve) with no additional charge. I went for the hiking the day after and they have been very flexible. Both tours were great and the guides very nice and interesting! We spotted plenty of animals! Antonio, amigo, fue un placer conocerte! Si algun día viajas por Europa y quieres conocer a Lyon, mi casa es tu casa! Y te enseño toda la ciudad, que es muy bonita, llena de historia! Ya tienes mis datos! Pura vida!!

This excursion started off with visiting the Iguana farm that breeds iguanas and protects them from poaching. Seeing the different iguanas was pretty awesome, just seeing the different skin colors. Then we visited the BriBri Village which we got to see how chocolate was made, we even got to taste the chocolate in its natural form without sugar. We also got to learn about the medicinal plants in the jungles of Costa Rica. The tour guide was very informative on the different plant species and uses and it was interesting to learn about all these plants. We then hiked to the Catarata Waterfalls which was amazing. Water was refreshing and you got to go underneath the falls to go swimming. There is also a little store there in which you can purchase coconut juice. The tour comes with fruit snacks and lunch in the town of Cahuita, they also provided bottled water in the beginning. The tour was very informative and you get to learn about the culture of the natives in Costa Rica. The only thing that I didn't like was that when they came to pick-up people going to the tour, they really packed you in the van.

Sadly heavy rain the night before meant water too turbulent for visibility/snorkelling which was cancelled. However still worth a boat trip along the coast instead, then walk back around 7 km, Plenty long enough in this heat and humidity. Guide was brilliant at spotting and finding things/monkeys, sloths makes bats et cetera. The raccoons find you if you have anything edible!Definitely worth the guide rather than trying to spot things yourself.
