    Pura vida!
Now we're talkn!! I had a blast on this beach and I didn't have to lift a finger, everything came to me on my rented beach chair 10.000 collones. I had such an amazing time, food, booze, fresh coconut juice in it's shell for 1,000 collones!! Beer was 1,500 collones. Empanadas were 1,000 collones. Everything was cheap, there's vendors walkn around all day but they're not pushy and you can juss sit back and enjoy. Get there early for parking as it fills up around noon, also the tide is low in the early AM but it's high around 3pm leaving lil beach left. Avoid the touristy restaurants, eat local!! Good beach for surfing, there's board rentals across the street and lessons offered on the beach.

Great for Family Fun in the Sun
Nice beach, easy waves during the late morning for beginners and friendly locals. Lots of good options for food, surf lessons, boogie board rentals and tours. This is a tourist town making it expensive, particularly for Costa Rica. This is a safe and family friendly area - great for vacation. Though, if you want a quiet beach, this isn’t it.

Awesome beach in the pacific side of Costa Rica
Amazing beach in the pacific coast of Costa Rica! You can get a nice place with umbrella and chairs for us$20. You can order beer, and a lot of different drinks. Food offer is not the best. You can purchase a surf class; this beach is very friendly for surf begginers! You can park in the street if you come early (before 10 am), if´s not, there´s private parking. Sunsets are really beautiful!!!!

Mixed Bag but Overall very nice
First, the beach experience. Sand is not top quality. Water is beautiful, waves generally small to mid arriving consistently. I got stung by a LOT of jellyfish larvae. Tourists/surfers abound, but everyone seemed nice and friendly. Very nice pickleball courts. High level of play. Expensive mixed drinks about town with too little booze- order beer, wine or champagne. Beautiful sunsets at the beach. A club called the Crazy Monkey at the north end of town played loud obnoxious music until 4a.m. every Friday night. Book a place toward the south of town.

    Great sandy beach
That's what I call a beach. You can walk for hours, lay on a sunbed, go for some horse riding or get on a board and enjoy the waves. The vendors can be quite annoying, though. I stayed in Tamarindo for a week and it rained every single day but I still enjoyed it. Loads of little shops and eateries offering all kinds of products so spenders paradise, too.

    Enormous beach in a bay.
Excellent for jogging or lengthy treks. Surfing ranges from gentle beginning waves up to overhead ripping lefts. Beautiful view of the sunset. crowded Saturday night surf. There are no crowds in the morning. Visitors and residents exchanging waves.

There must be a lot of exciting nightlife here.
When we visited, there were a lot of local fishermen. There was little surf. Many people harassed us, claiming they wanted to see our automobile. particular is a common occurrence in Costa Rica, although a little excessive at particular beach. Really liked the vibe of a laid-back beach town surfer.

Busy beach, lots of vendors and restaurants. Many locals constantly selling their wares, but not too pushy. Price per beach chair rental per day is $5, although some will try to get more! If you are a new surfer, I would try in front of public beach. If you are further down the beach to the north, in front of Occidental Tamarindo, the waves are HUGE, so not good for learning. Lots of rocks, but fun to watch the birds and people catch fish! Lots of beautiful white sand too! Very hot, 34C every day, you need to find shade.

Beautiful beach very hot on the feet make sure you have sandals on to walk on it. The tides are amazing and the sunsets even more so. Everyone comes to sit out on the beach to watch it each evening with all the bars offering happy hours!

It was a pleasure for me and my family to discover such a wonderful place as Tamarindo.
We were delighted to enjoy the warm atmosphere and friendly environment.
Water was incredibly hot, actually the temperatures was higher than the air.
Looking forward to come back to Tamarindo.

magical sunsets, live music along the beach bars every night, everything lit up- it's a beautiful place!
Like anywhere that has tourists year round- people do come up to you & try to sell their merchandise, all are very kind, not pushy. Politely waved them passed without issues. Horseback riding along the beach, catamaran tours leave from the shore line. Beach can be busy, but more so quiet & relaxing, people do bring their dogs on the beach!

This beach reminded me of a small Mexico’s Huatulco Bay. The water is warm but there are no waves. The food shack, as most of Tamarindo restaurants, is expensive: cebiche $10, shrimp cocktail $20, surf and turf $50.

I am a beach snob! So my opinion may be biased. Don't expect beautiful sand and water like Caribbean. You have to go to the other side for that. This is a good local beach, attached to the Main Street so its nice and convenient to all restaurants and shops. Their are hagglers trying to sell you crap all day, can get annoying but they leave you alone after 900 no gracias's. Recommend going to the other beaches 30mins-1 hour away- water is blue and sand is white.

Tamarindo Beach has gotten busier with time. I guess that's what happens when you become known as "the spot" for beginner surfers. Its overall vibe remains the same however, and there truly is something for everyone in addition to surfing: gentle waves for swimming, boogie boarding, volleyball, people watching, going for a stroll, viewing the sun set from a catamaran tour, or enjoying a cocktail from the many restaurants that line the beach. If you are visiting Tamarindo, this wonderful beach will surely be part of your experience.

This is one of those tourist traps with people selling stuff and bugging you constantly. Two starts because the Cocoloco was only 4 bucks and he made it a pina coloda which was actually decent. Still its the worst beach i've been to in Central America

Tamarindo is dedicated to a young surfing crowd
Steady waves, and an abundance of shops get lessons, equipment rental, and service.
The beach is massive, with clean soft sand , and yet, it always looks under populated.
Sunsets here, are clear and normally not clouded on the horizon ...... beautiful for lovers of all ages.

The beach at Tamarindo has been commercialized from what it was in the past. It is a good spot for surfing but there are now panhandlers all up and down the beach all day long. The horse rides leave behind their droppings as they go, there are numerous dogs that are running around and do not appear to have owners, and the restaurants have crowded what was a pristine beach. The parking is minimal and there are now fees solicited from scalpers. This used to be a wonderful place to visit but progress has shown up and the area is no longer original Costa Rica.
There are more choices for dining and more shops for souveniers if that is what you want.
